The X-Men have been growing increasingly ambitious in recent months, especially since the creation of Krakoa. The mutant nation has given the mutants autonomy from the rest of the world and allowed them to dictate their own form of justice.

Now, another young mutant seems to have much larger ambitions than even her fellow heroes, as M just hinted that she's eyeing Saturnyne's position as the caretaker of the multiverse.

When Summoner and Apocalypse decide to venture into Otherworld, several X-Men decided to accompany them. Each of them came for different reasons with some to fulfill notable positions (such as Polaris being there to represent Magneto) or to get revenge for their family (such as Siryn, who came along because her father Banshee was seriously injured barely escaping Otherworld). One mutant though is seemingly more curious than anything else.

When Apocalypse approaches Monet, he asks if she'd ever ventured into the Otherworld, and into the range of Saturyne and her multiversal influence. The Generation X veteran has never shied away from a battle before now and she's encountered magical forces, but Otherworld is a new kind of adventure for her. M reveals that she wants to just venture into Otherworld to see what it's like because having a job like Saturnyne and taking responsibility for the entire multiverse seems like the sort of thing she might like to do later in her life. Monet is among the X-Men who witness Summoner betray Krakoa and wound Apocalypse and, alongside Havok and Polaris, remains behind in Otherworld to allow the rest of the X-Men to escape back to Krakoa with their injured.

In the chaos, she uses her telepathy to call upon Saturnyne to help them -- although the Otherworld sorceress has other plans in motion and banishes M's telepathic communication away. After Saturnyne ends the battle by briefly freezing time around them, she declares the dual between the X-Men and the Sword-Bearers of Arakko. At this point, M confronts her again, seeming to be the only one who's aware that Saturnyne has some ulterior motives in finding an acceptable dual. But Saturnyne at least hints at her plans, to maintain power, and suggests that the X-Men rally to defend themselves if they want any chance at victory.

Coupled with her assistance to Cable and Prestige to discover the S.W.O.R.D. base known as the Peak and her past affiliation with certain mutants, it appears that despite her misgivings about the X-Men that Saturnyne would prefer they take the victory over the Sword-Bearers of Arakko. On top of that, she and M at least seem to respect each other enough to speak plainly to one another. Maybe M will continue to get to play a role in Otherworld across the course of the event and could learn more about the realm and its powers from Saturnyne, or even learn some tricks from the powerful magical figure.
