X-Men's James Marsden Joins Anchorman: The Legend Continues

You'd think J.J. Abrams is directing Anchorman: The Legend Continues with how much secrecy surrounds the film. Adam McKay has kept most of the details under wraps, but earlier this month, news did get out that Kristen Wiig is joining the cast, and now Deadline reports on another new addition: James Marsden (X-Men, Hop, 30 Rock).

Marsden might be used to squaring off against mutant supervillains and cartoon bunnies, but this time he'll face a much different foe: Ron Burgundy. Sources contend he'll play Burgundy's rival at another network. Will this lead to another trident-filled brawl? We hope so.

With filming expected to kick off in Georgia this March, expect any remaining roles to get locked in and announced pretty quickly. The film features original stars Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and David Koechner. The film is scheduled to open Dec. 20.
