WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Marauders #21 by Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli, Edgar Delgado & VC's Cory Petit, on sale now.

The X-Men have always had a complex series of family trees connected to one another. There have always been surprising revelations about how the heroes and villains of the mutant corner and how they're secretly tied to one another. A new mysterious connection has just been teased during the heights of the Hellfire Gala, suggesting a potential tie between one of the members of the Homines Verendi and Emma Frost that could pose a serious challenge to the future of the Marauders -- or give them a major advantage going forward.

As Marauders #21 strongly implies, Wilhelmina Kensington has some kind of connection to the Stepford Cuckoos, and she just remembered.

Homines Verendi

Wilhelmina Kensington is the inheritor of a massive fortune and a surprisingly twisted young woman. Shortly before the events of Schism, Wilhelmina was invited to join the Inner Circle of a new Hellfire Club, populated by similarly wealthy but vicious children. She worked alongside them against the X-Men, eventually betraying Kade Kilgore at the Hellfire Academy and moving through the Siege Perilous to some unknown fate. She's recently returned in the pages of Marauders as a member of Homines Verendi alongside her former allies from the Hellfire Club. They've made themselves a powerful force within Madripoor, working alongside the human government to oust the poor communities to make way for expensive construction, reigniting their animosity with the mutant community along the way.

Along with other enemies of Krakoa, Wilhelmina was invited to the Hellfire Gala. But upon arriving, she's specifically noticed by the Five-In-One, aka the Stepford Cuckoos. The telepathic clones of Emma Frost (who've effectively become her daughters in the present day). The Five-In-One share their thoughts upon seeing Wilhelmina, noting that it's difficult to even look at her. The five ultimately decide to help her in some unknown way -- using their powers to make the young woman remember something unrevealed to the audience. The psychic turn catches Wilhelmina by surprise, with the young woman whispering a soft "oh" at the psychic intrusion -- but with an apparent understanding of what the moment means.

Stepford Cuckoos Marauders

There are serious questions to be raised about Wilhemia's apparent connection to the Five-In-One and therefore Emma Frost. Wilhemina's appearance isn't too dissimilar from the Stepford Cuckoos, implying they could be technically related. Her haughty personality is befitting Emma Frost, suggesting another connection. It's possible Wilhemina's another clone of Emma, making her a potential sixth member of the family unit. Or perhaps she could even be a daughter of the Frost family in some unrevealed way.

This could introduce potential perks -- and complications -- to the battle between the Marauders and Homines Verendi for the soul of Madripoor. Having the truth of her connection to the mutant community exposed could allow her to provide genuine help to the mutants as they try to help Madripoor. But it could also raise questions amongst the human population, like how someone so tied to a member of the Quiet Council could have "infiltrated" their forces, making them even more aggressive towards the mutants. It'll be interesting to see how things play out for Emma and Wilhemina, and what the true connection between the Five-In-One and the villain really is.
