When an old enemy of the X-Men resurfaced in X-Men #5, the Quiet Council decided to send a special team of mutants to investigate the Children of the Vault on their home turf. The Children of the Vault live in a specialized facility that accelerates time to speed of the evolution of the humans contained within. The team that infiltrated the Vault was handpicked because of their powers, the team with the best chance of surviving the unknown world they were diving into.
Wolverine, also known as X-23 or Laura Kinney, was teamed with Darwin and Synch to find out the truth behind the Children. Darwin's powers help him evolve to use a power that would keep him alive during any scenario he encounters. Synch can "synch" abilities with mutants near him so he could utilize Darwin's power or the healing factor of Wolverine. On this mission, Laura proved that her powers stand on par with the original Wolverine in X-Men #19.
Logan's extreme healing capabilities have been one of the things that make him so fearsome. He can take a hit, get shot, burned, or whatever else gets thrown at him but he still keeps coming for his enemy. The reason he was chosen for the Weapon X program was because he could heal from the produce to adamantium to his bones. Many other mutants possess healing abilities, to one degree or another, but Logan's is the stuff of legends.
In 2020, X-Force #13 showed that Logan's healing could literally bring him back from Hell. The issue -- by Benjamin Percy, Viktor Bogdanovic, and Matthew Wilson -- showed Logan venturing into the underworld looking for an infamous sword. Falling into a pool of fiery lava, Logan came out of it as just a shiny metal skeleton. After a moment his body began to grow back until he was fully restored. Within the length of a conversation, he was able to get up, walk around, and it wasn't too long before he could fight again.
The latest issue of X-Men found the reconnaissance team in an explosive encounter with the Children of the Vault. One of the highly evolved humans, Aguja, released a massive force field that killed her in the process. All of the buildings around them were turned to dust. Darwin's powers kicked in to save himself. X-23 and Synch clasped hands and were essentially vaporized down to their skeletons. After a moment, Wolverine's healing powers kicked bringing her back to normal, replicating Logan's revival. Moreover, Synch mimicked her powers and healed at the same rate, reinforcing her healing power.
Both known children of Logan, Wolverine and Daken, both inherited their father's heightened senses, retractable claws, and questionable social skills. Even Gabby -- Laura's clone -- received many of Logan's traits. However, now it is obvious that Laura also got his extreme healing factor making her title of "Wolverine" well deserved.
