When someone has been alive for nearly 150 years, like Wolverine, it's only natural they've had their fair share of relationships with women of various races and ages. Time and time again in the comics he has been described as a gruff, brutish person, not exactly what many would consider boyfriend material. Then there's also the fact that he has a tendency to get his love interests killed in one way or another. But all this has never really been a problem for good old James Logan, who has at this point virtually had a sexual relationship with every X-Woman—and many other Marvel characters.

The only exceptions are Jubilee and Kitty Pryde but Wolverine basically sees them as his daughters so any relationship beyond that is out of the question. A complete list of all the women he has romanced in his life would take weeks to compile, so this list looks at only 10 notable cases.

10 Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)

The romantic part of their relationship has mostly remained off-panel from the comic books, but there have been too many references made to ignore it altogether. Logan has been a friend and "drinking buddy" of Carol since her early military days, and their friendship is certainly one of the best in the comics. In issue 24 of 1986s Marvel Fanfare, the two of them share an intimate moment together as Carol suffers from some kind of an identity crisis. She refers to Wolverine as being more than a friend, "like Mar-Vell", who was once her lover.

9 Gahck

Wolverine has fathered plenty of children over the years, some canon and some not, some biological and some technically adopted. In terms of popularity, Daken and X-23 are the ones everyone is familiar with, while Erista is a name very few fans have heard of. So far he and his mother have only appeared once in the comics, in 1990s Wolverine: The Jungle Adventure from writer Walter Simonson and artist Mike Mignola. Taking place in Savage Land, the one-shot comic is a tale of Wolverine's skirmish with Apocalypse, and how he meets the mother of his child (unbeknownst to him) Gahck.

8 Amir

In a world as diverse as the Marvel Universe, there shouldn't be a reason why Wolverine's interests and relations would be limited to human beings, and the Atlantean Amir is an example of one such case. She appears in Wolverine #42 (volume 3) where she and her husband Politus were hunting down the supervillain Nitro.

Being the gentleman Wolverine is, he steps in to "comfort" her after the sudden death of her husband at the hands of the said villain. A relationship that started as being purely physical eventually evolved into something more, until her death in issue 57.

7 Viper (Ophelia Sarkissian/Madame Hydra)

Viper and Wolverine are married in Wolverine #125, Marvel Comics.

Marriage isn't for everybody and considering Wolverine's "lone wolf" attitude it certainly isn't for him either. But in 1998's Wolverine #125 from writer Chris Claremont, the villain Viper blackmails Logan into marrying her. It was a marriage devoid of any feelings, and her sole objective was to use his influential presence in order to seize control of the criminal empire of Madripoor island. In time Logan manages to force her into a divorce, but it's funny that none of his recent comics ever refer to the time when he led the life of a married man.

6 Dazzler (Alison Blaire)

Created by writer Tom DeFalco and artist John Romita Jr., the character Dazzler first appeared in 1980 in Uncanny X-Men #130 and since then has been an on-again-off-again member of the X-men. Her powers are not something most people understand, although her name can be seen as a hint about how they work. She made an appearance in the last issue of the 2010 series Wolverine: The Best There Is, helping Wolverine, Cyclops and Emma Frost take down the villain Contagion. After a serious moment of self-reflection, Logan decides bedding Dazzler should be his first step towards "moving forward" in his life.

5 Black Cat

Felicia Hardy and Logan are not two characters who would mingle under normal circumstances as they are from vastly different backgrounds, but the Wolverine & Black Cat: Claws limited series manages to make it work. Getting caught in a ploy of the villain Arcade, the two are forced to take part in a savage game where they are hunted.

Despite how annoyed they seem to be of each other initially, by the end of the arc they warm up to each other quite well, both literally and figuratively speaking.

4 Domino (Neena Thurman)

Domino is best known for her luck powers and as a frequent member of X-Force and many other variants of the group. She has worked with Wolverine many times in the past, and the two even had their own miniseries in 2010 titled X-Force: Sex and Violence, two words that summarize their chemistry rather neatly. The relationship between the two of them has never been anything more than casual, or as Domino herself calls it in New X-Men Annual #1, "no-strings animal passion".

3 Tyger Tiger (Jessan Hoan)

Jessan Hoan made her first appearance in 1998's Uncanny X-Men #229, where she was little more than just a supporting character. She would later go on to don the alias of Tyger Tiger, and together with Wolverine fought against the criminal underworld of Madripoor and the villain Roche.

Following the events of the series Marvel Comics Presents she became the crime boss of Madripoor. Their relationship ran deeper than just another romance, as Wolverine took the responsibility of ending her reign if she ever engaged in any kind of villainy.

2 Rose O'Hara

Jean Grey is arguably the love of Wolverine's life, but Rose O'Hara was his first true love, and also his first romantic tragedy. She is not a character many fans will be familiar with, as her appearance was limited to a 6-issue limited series titled Origin, the definitive Wolverine origin story. Her influence on his life is one that cannot be understated as she's the one who saved his life when he first discovered his powers and was in a state of helplessness. The two were together for years (but not as lovers) until she ultimately became the first woman of many to die by Wolverine's hands.

1 Jean Grey And Cyclops

Wolverine has never been shown to be a man of polygamous tastes, but that is what the recent X-Men series seems to be suggesting. The love triangle of Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Wolverine has been around for virtually as long as these characters have existed. Even when Jean and Cyclops were in a serious relationship, that never stopped Wolverine from trying to shoot his shot with her, something that no doubt annoyed Cyclops to no end. It's good that they've set aside their differences, if at least temporarily.
