The Green Lantern Corps is one of the most important parts of the DC Universe. Home to heroes such as Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kilowog, and Kyle Rayner, the Corps is the thin green line that protects the universe from all the threats the heroes of Earth never see. The Green Lantern rings they wield are powered by their indomitable willpower and fueled by their imaginations, creating anything they can think of.

One of the things the members of the Green Lantern Corps and Marvel's X-Men have in common is their willpower- many of the most powerful mutants have powers that take a lot of willpower to control and would make excellent Green Lanterns. Let's take a look at some X-Men who would fit right in with the Corps.

10 Magik

At first glance, Magik doesn't really seem like she'd be a good fit for the Green Lantern Corps. She's a bit impulsive and violent, prone to wade in and use her teleportation skills, powerful magic, and Soulsword to take the fight directly to her opponents. However, it actually makes a lot of sense when one realizes just how much she controls herself.

It takes a tremendous amount of willpower for her not to give into her Darkchylde side, which ups her power but also makes her more prone to do terrible things. This willpower would make her perfect for the Green Lantern Corps and allow her to become a proficient Green Lantern.

9 Psylocke

Psylocke Wild Child Hellions

Once upon a time, Kwannon was a Hand assassin. Her mind was pulled out of her body and replaced by the X-Man Elizabeth Braddock. Eventually, the two were put back in their rightful bodies and Kwannon kept the Psylocke moniker. Kwannon has been using her ninja skills and telepathic abilities to find a place for herself in the X-Men, trying to prove to people she's worthy of the name Psylocke.

Psylocke has had to learn to control herself and not give in to her ninja assassin training, which takes tremendous amounts of willpower. Beyond that, she's also used to using psionic energy to create constructs of all kinds, making her suited to being a Green Lantern.

8 Iceman

Iceman's immature and headstrong nature might make it seem like he wouldn't be a great Green Lantern, but this isn't the case at all. Iceman's powers could easily go haywire if he loses control; it takes a tremendous amount of will to keep them operating the way they should. He's also refined them to a point where he's pretty much one of the most powerful beings on the planet.

The amount of willpower it takes for all of this makes Iceman perfect for the Corps. He wouldn't be the first snarky Lantern either- Iceman and Guy Gardner hanging out and trading barbs would be hilarious. On top of that, he already makes ice constructs.

7 Rogue

Rogue was unable to touch anyone without gloves or some other protection for most of her life. It took her years to refine her abilities to a level where she could do so. The amount of willpower it must have taken for her not to touch anyone for so long is immeasurable. On top of that, she would have to learn how to control whatever power she absorbed on the fly, as well as keep her sanity while being inundated by the memories of people she absorbed.

With willpower like that, it's a no brainer for Rogue to get chosen for a Green Lantern ring. Plus, she's good at using a variety of different powers as well, making her uniquely suited to using the ring.

6 Archangel

There was a time when Archangel didn't have metal death wings and he wouldn't have been a good Green Lantern then. However, after getting his new wings from Apocalypse, he had a new battle to fight- against the programming Apocalypse put in him. He didn't always succeed, but even then, there were extenuating circumstances. For years, he proved that he had enough willpower to stay his own man.

It took a massive exertion of willpower to keep from falling to Apocalypse's programming, making Archangel an X-Man who could easily use a Green Lantern ring.

5 Magneto

One of the most powerful mutants on the face of the Earth, Magneto controls one of the most powerful forces in all of creation. He's been many things over the years but he's always fought for his people using his magnetic powers, sometimes taking it a bit far, depending on what side of the "Magneto Was Right" divide one finds themselves on.

The sheer amount of willpower it takes Magneto to control his powers is flabbergasting, especially when one thinks of just how much control he actually has over what he's doing with his powers. While his morality might not match up well with the Corps sometimes, he'd still make a good Green Lantern.

4 Storm

Storm's weather control powers are amazing and probably take a decent amount of willpower to control, but using her powers isn't the greatest feat of willpower that Storm performs. Storm is claustrophobic and that can be very dangerous; if she lets her fear gets the best her, she could cause massive destruction. Over the years, Storm has learned to control herself so that when she's put into a situation where her claustrophobia gets bad, she doesn't start summoning massive tornadoes and hurricanes.

The sheer amount of willpower it takes for her to keep control of herself in these situations is what would make her perfect for the Corps.

3 Wolverine

Wolverine has been fighting his own worst urges for years. In his early days with the X-Men, he was just liable to go into a berzerker rage as he was not to. This side of him was something he worked for years to control and while it's impossible to say that he has it completely under control, he definitely is better at it than he used to be, rarely slipping into what used to be one of his trademarks.

It takes a lot of willpower for Wolverine to control that side of him and he does it admirably nowadays. This would make him a candidate for a Green Lantern ring. His constructs might not be the most imaginative but neither are Hal Jordan's, so Wolverine will do fine in the Corps.

2 Cyclops

Cyclops's entire life has been about exercising willpower. Starting as a young man with nothing to live for, he didn't allow his despair to get the best of him. He worked hard, never letting his mutation bring him down, and became the leader of the X-Men. He would go on to become one of the greatest leaders in the Marvel Universe, even keeping the mutant race going through some of its darkest days.

While he did fall to the temptation of the Dark Phoenix, it doesn't make his willpower less, seeing as the Phoenix Force is an omnipotent universal force. Cyclops's great willpower would make him a proficient Green Lantern.

1 Jean Grey

Jean Grey's mental abilities have always required a fair amount of willpower to control but that's not her greatest exertion. During the New X-Men days, the Phoenix Force came back to Jean and Jean was actually able to control it without succumbing to the temptation of the Dark Phoenix. This is actually an extremely major thing; it's exceedingly rare for any Phoenix host to not to go Dark Phoenix.

Resisting the temptation of the Phoenix Force is a major act of willpower and it would make Jean Grey one of the most powerful Green Lanterns to ever exist.
