Kingsman star Taron Egerton says he's not quite sure why there's so much support for him to play Wolverine, but he's not entirely opposed to the idea.

While speaking at ACE Comic Con in Chicago, Egerton addressed the fans who are calling for him to play Wolverine once that character is brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though he enjoys the superhero genre, he's clearly not sold on playing Logan.

"I think that I love those films and I've got lots of friends who play roles in those films and they love it and they have a great time," he said. "I don't know. I think the Logan thing is really interesting. I'm slightly baffled by it, I've never felt like a Wolverine sort of guy."

Egerton has actually said as much before, shooting down Wolverine rumors and expressing that he doesn't think he's the right actor for the job. Then again, many performers have undergone remarkable transformations before portraying superheroes or villains, and Egerton himself leaves the possibility open.

"I think that one's a few years away. I know that Kevin [Feige's] spoken about it being a few years away. Maybe in a few years I'll look rough enough for it," he admitted. "I've made no secret of the fact that I'm a fan of those [films] and of course I would, I would love to be a part of them."

The actor is correct when he says the X-Men joining the MCU will be years off. After all, the current Marvel slate is already locked in for the next few years. With actors joining the franchise earlier and earlier to lock down roles and have cameos, Egerton probably wouldn't have to wait long to pop his claws if he desired the role -- and Marvel actually wanted him for it. In the meantime, Egerton will continue on in a separate comic book franchise, as Kingsman 3 has a script.
