One of the more interesting parts of Al Ewing's S.W.O.R.D. line-up was the inclusion of Takeshi Matsuya aka Wiz Kid, most famous for his stint on the X-Terminators. According to Ewing, Taki is a total "rock star" who knows how cool he is.

Ewing told CBR in an upcoming interview, "Wiz-Kid's got more of a rebellious streak. I kind of see him as the young rock star Kid Cable only thinks he is. Also, I think over time we'll see Wiz-Kid questioning a couple of the tenets of the mutant society - though he's extremely on board with most of it. The human world required Takeshi to adapt himself to fit in it, and even then treated him as less when he knew he was more, particularly given his extremely high power level. Krakoa and S.W.O.R.D. adapt to him and make full use of his abilities."

Wiz Kid first appeared in X-Terminators #1 by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove. He has the mutant power of technoformation, allowing him to psionically technoform and assemble parts of machinery at his whim. Taki is also a computer genius.

Ewing's S.W.O.R.D. team-up was hinted at in the final pages of Empyre: Aftermath. At Billy and Teddy's second wedding reception, Abigail Brand disbands Alpha Flight and reams Captain Marvel for not alerting her of the cosmic threat the Avengers just faced. After tragedy befalls Emperor Hulkling in the future, Abigail and her new S.W.O.R.D. team arrive to bail him out.

Al Ewing and Valerio Schiti's S.W.O.R.D. #1 hits shelves from Marvel Comics in December.
