Marvel Cryptically Teases a Major X-Men Event For 2023

A Major Threat the X-Men Are Currently Facing

While little else is known about what's coming next for mutantkind, the X-Men are currently battling the Eternals in Marvel's Judgment Day crossover series. Druig has taken on leadership as Prime Eternal and, while some defy his rule, has launched a full-scale attack on Krakoa in an attempt to "correct excess deviation." Using the Hex to invade the sentient mutant island, Druig also unleashed Thanos' "grandfather" Uranos onto Arako, who completely destroyed the planet in less than an hour in Judgment Day #1 and X-Men Red #5.

The Avengers joined in the X-Men's fight in Judgment Day #1, while Iron Man/Tony Stark, Ajak, Makkari and an imprisoned Mister Sinister led a charge to awaken Avenger's Mountain in hopes that creating a "new god" would end Druig's schemes. The first half of the plan was successful, as the Celestial indeed arises; however, Judgment Day #2 ends with the Celestial declaring it's here to "judge" Earth and determine if its inhabitants are worthy of existence.

X-Men #13 serves as a Judgment Day tie-in and sees the team's new roster -- Magik, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Firestar, Synch, Havoc, Forge and Iceman -- work with Ikaris to stop the Hex. They're able to cut off the Hex's fuel lines and help save the island from the attack; however, the issue also ends with the Celestial declaring it's come to judge the X-Men. Releasing Aug. 31, the synopsis for X-Men #14 reads, "WAS CYCLOPS RIGHT? Are ANY of the X-Men right? Only one can judge them and the Day of Judgment is here, for good or ill, and the newest team of X-Men must face the truth about themselves and what they have done. A.X.E.: JUDGMENT DAY TIE-IN."

The X-Men's new era begins in 2023 from Marvel Comics.
