Over the years, plenty of Marvel heroes have been attacked by vampiric forces, including the legendary Dracula. One of the most consistent targets of his vicious attacks is Storm from the X-Men. In the core Marvel Universe and the greater Marvel multiverse, Storm has even been turned into a vampire.

This is how Storm became a blood-sucking creature of the night and what happened to those versions of the character.

616-Storm

In Uncanny X-Men #159 by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, Storm disappeared after delivering Kitty to her parents for a visit -- only to be found in the hospital with minor injuries around her neck. Returning to the X-Mansion, Storm has unsettling dreams, develops an aversion to sunlight and suddenly has a new trepidation around Kitty's Star of David.

Dracula comes in the night, hoping to complete Storm's transformation into a vampire and taking her away. The X-Men are able to track Storm and Dracula to Belvedere Castle, which Dracula has been using as a sanctuary. While the X-Men battle Dracula, Shadowcat finds a transforming Storm. Finding that she can't kill her friend, Shadowcat offers up her life to Storm. This helps Storm ground herself and regain some sense of control.

Resisting Dracula and his influence, Storm confronts the vampire -- but although she can't be controlled by him, she's compelled not to directly attack him either. Impressed by her inner strength, Dracula flees.

Storm is confronted with the lingering fears over this battle in Uncanny X-Men Annual #6 by the same creative team. Feeling the call of Dracula, Storm is drawn to him and ordered to recover the book containing the Montessi Formula. The X-Men arrive to help Storm, with Shadowcat being possessed by the spirit of Dracula's daughter Lilith, making her more than willing to attack Storm. In the end, it's Dracula's servant Rachel Van Helsing who seemingly kills Dracula, taking the Lord of Vampires by surprise and freeing Storm from his influence.

Bloodstorm

Bloodstorm Mutant X

After seemingly being killed in an explosion, the conscious of the Earth-616 Havok ends up in the body of his Earth-1298 counterpart. This world is full of dark tweaks to classic Marvel heroes, notably among Havok's new team, the Six.

One of their members is Bloodstorm: On this world, the X-Men also battled Dracula, but in this reality, Storm was in fact turned into a vampire and remained one. Although she rebelled against Dracula, she fled the X-Men. She later bit the Kitty Pryde of her reality, turned her into a slave and took on Forge as a servant. She also infected a mortally wounded Gambit with the vampiric curse in a bid to save his life.

Despite her dark impulses, Bloodstorm proves a loyal and heroic ally to Havok.

She eventually receives a unique serum from Henry McCoy that removes some of her vampiric weaknesses (such as her bloodlust and allergy to the sun) and even kills Dracula during a massive battle. Bloodstorm is later recruited to be a member of the Earth X Heralds, who are multiversal heroes helping warn worlds of the danger posed by the Celestials. In exchange for this, Bloodstorm is brought to the Storm of Earth-X (who'd married Black Panther and become Queen of Wakanda) to go through a procedure intended to finally remove her vampiric curse once and for all.

The New Bloodstorm

Bloodstorm

On Earth-21710, Storm is found by Dracula not as an adult, but as a young woman still living as a thief in Egypt. Turned into a vampire with ease, Storm eventually breaks free of his control and escapes. She is briefly a member of her X-Men, before being overwhelmed by her bloodlust and killing both Beast and Professor Xavier. This Storm is eventually recruited by a multiversal Goblin Queen for her Hex-Men, who attack Earth-616.

Bloodstorm is able to resist the allure of the Goblin Queen, however, and betrays her, helping the time-displaced original X-Men defeat her. Stuck on Earth-616, Bloodstorm remains with the O5 X-Men and becomes a member of the team, helping them on various missions and even developing romantic feelings for the young Cyclops. He reciprocates the feelings.

However, before they can fully begin a relationship, the pair are attacked by Ahab and his Hounds during the opening moments of Extermination. In the scuffle, Bloodstorm is killed, quickly crumbling into dust in Cyclops' hands as he tries to warn the rest of the X-Men of the attack.
