WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Marauders #20 by Gerry Duggan, Stefano Caselli, Edgar Delgado, Chris Sotomayor, Tom Muller, and VC's Cory Petit, on sale now.

The Hellfire Gala is just around the corner, and the freedom-fighting team of the Marauders getting ready for the massive X-Men event. They've been doing good work around the world, sailing the high seas in search of their mutant brothers and sisters in need of a helping hand. While the Marauders sit around the dinner table, the focus of their discussion turns to Storm, who they know will be leaving the team upon their return to Krakoa.

In celebration of her time with the group, the Marauders discuss the exploits of Storm, with the conversation leading to her proficiency with knives, and a guessing game ensues as her teammates attempt to uncover just how many blades she has hidden on her person.

As the team reminisces, Pyro brings up the brutal events he witnessed as part of Magneto's Brotherhood. As shocking as the violence exhibited by the likes of Avalanche and Magneto has always been, the moment that most impressed Pyro was seeing Storm free a fellow mutant from her bondage with little more than a well-placed throwing knife. Without harming anyone, Storm intimidated the shipbreaking yard overseer into releasing the young mutant known as Lash into her custody. As astounded as Pyro was by Storm saving the day without drawing blood, the conversation soon turns to just how many knives Storm is carrying. Pyro himself guesses that there are three, and all Ororo can do is laugh at such a small number.

Ororo Monroe might be better known for commanding the elements than for slinging steel, but she has always been handy with a blade, far more so than she is with any other weapon. One of the most memorable knife fights of her career, occurred in 1983's Uncanny X-Men #170 by Chris Claremont and Paul Smith. When Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Storm were kidnapped by the Morlocks, whose leader Callisto was planning on marrying the unwilling Angel, Storm was the one to depose Callisto from her throne. After challenging the Morlock leader to ritual combat, Storm handily defeated her opponent with nothing more than a blade and her fists. This moment has been cemented in X-Men history as one of the most shining examples of Storm's abilities, though it is far from her most brutal victory.

During last year's "X of Swords" event, in X-Force #14 by Benjamin Percy, Gerry Duggan, and Joshua Cassara, Storm took to the arena to face off against Arrakii mutant Death. Although her opponent posed a formidable challenge, Storm was able to hand him a sound defeat, shattering his sword with one of her knives before running the weapon through him and walking away victorious.

Ultimately, it is Bishop that wins the bet after his guess of seven knives is closest to the eight that Storm chooses to reveal. Bishop and Pyro stand convinces that she is hiding even more, but Ororo chooses to not address the matter further.

With the upcoming Hellfire Gala and a new era for mutants approaching, Storm may end up needing her knives again sooner rather than later. With any luck, there won't be a need for violence at the Gala, but if there is at least one mutant will come fully prepared.
