WARNING: The following contains spoilers for X-Factor #3, by Leah Williams, David Baldeon, Israel Silva, VC's Joe Caramagna and Tom Muller, on sale now.

X-Factor ventured to the Mojoverse when they received word that a mutant had died there. When they arrived, they realized the dead mutant was a former member of the New Mutants known as Wind Dancer, and her death was an exploitative ploy to increase ratings for the dimensional streaming network.

However, what they found after that was even more shocking. Shatterstar was there, forced to compete in gladiatorial games for the amusement of the masses. Shatterstar was one of the most-viewed live-streamers in the Mojoverse.

Polaris seemed shocked to see her former X-Factor partner in the Mojoverse, participating in gladiatorial games. However, it became even more disturbing when he couldn't speak of his own free will to the members of the team. He did slip in clues here and there and made it clear that Mojo would reprogram his Headshot TV psychic shield neural net if he got out of line. It appears that Mojo has Shatterstar in the Mojoverse against his will and under his control.

Shatterstar in the Mojoverse

Shatterstar said that he couldn't leave with X-Factor if he wanted to. Polaris promised to come back for him before the team escaped the Mojoverse, taking with them the body of Wind Dancer. With their resurrection protocols, the mutants of Krakoa can bring Wind Dancer back to life and try to uncover the mystery of exactly what is going on in the Mojoverse. Shatterstar's statement that mutants are beloved in the Mojoverse implies that Mojo might be kidnapping mutants and programming them for entertainment on his streaming networks.

Shatterstar first appeared in Rob Liefield and Fabian Nicieza's New Mutants #99 in 1991. He made his big entry in the final issue of that series when he arrived at the school and said he was seeking the X-Men to help him battle and overthrow the oppressive rule of Mojo. Before joining the mutants, Shatterstar had already been captured and experimented on in the Mojoverse. After fighting hard to escape, the young mutant joined Cable in the newly named X-Force.

Shatterstar fought his entire life to escape from the Mojoverse, only to learn that he came from this world, the mutant son of Dazzler and Longshot. He ended up sending himself into the future as a baby since, in a strange paradox, he was also Longshot's father. However, despite escaping the Mojoverse and settling into his role as a hero in both X-Force and X-Factor Investigations, he is back where he started.

Since Krakoa came to be, a panel in Benjamin Percy and Joshua Cassara's X-Force #2 in 2019 showed Shatterstar in the crowd after Professor X's death. However, by the time X-Factor visited the Mojoverse, Shatterstar was there, held against his will, and it seems his worst fears have come true. It is now up to X-Factor to save him and stop the possible abduction of mutants for Mojo's entertainment.
