WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Hellions #7 by Zeb Wells, Stephen Segovia, David Curiel, VC's Cory Petit, and Tom Muller, on sale now.

X of Swords is over, but the repercussions of the Tournament of Swords are still fresh and, in some cases, undetermined. One such situation is that in which Mister Sinister and his Hellions find themselves in, even if they aren't all aware of it. In discussing what has happened on the team's most recent mission, Professor Xavier makes it clear that they cannot handle this series of deaths the same way as they have others suffered by the mutants of Krakoa, and it's all because one particular Hellion terrifies him.

When a citizen of Krakoa dies, they are usually resurrected and their saved memories are restored...at least when they die in our dimension. For the deceased among Mister Sinister's Hellions, who he led into Arakko under false pretenses, they have not returned as their fallen comrades before them did. Nanny and Wild Child were both resurrected successfully, but have come back different than they were before. They are more focused, more intense, and presumably more dangerous. As he walks through the Hatchery, Xavier is informed that something is wrong with Orphan-Maker, and is pleased to hear that the young mutant is dormant for the time being. As he puts it, "Better to prevent his X-gene from expressing itself fully... Peter has a curse. And he mustn't share it with the world."

It's not uncommon for enigmatic, world ending threats to rear their head in the world of the X-Men, but for a fellow mutant to instill so much fear into Professor Xavier of all people is a bit shocking, especially considering the fact that very little information is even known about the nature of his powers.

Peter aka Orphan-Maker, created by Walter and Louise Simonson, first appeared in 1988's X-Factor #31. Peter had at one point been a captive of Mister Sinister, who planned to exploit the young mutant's powers before becoming fearful of their potential. After being freed by fellow mutant Nanny, a suit was developed for Peter that dampened or prevented his X-gene from developing properly, ensuring that whatever his powers are capable of would never come to be a reality. The two would go on crusades together to abduct and "liberate" mutant children from their parents before eventually settling with the rest of mutant kind on Krakoa. Now, it isn't certain what will happen, but everyone who really knows Peter seems to be of the same opinion, with even Nanny offering a vague and ominous reaction to the idea of his return.

Though Orphan-Maker does seem to have some superhuman attributes, such as enhanced resistance, those general capabilities are most likely attributes of his power suit more than anything else. In one encounter with the Marauders, Orphan-Maker was seen to spew, or possibly even bleed a caustic substance, but that doesn't leave much along the way of speculating what his powers may be.

Whatever Orphan-Maker is capable of is sure to be impressive, especially if so many high profile mutants are as concerned over the prospect of an unstable return for the young mutant as they appear to be. Professor Xavier has gone up against some of the most powerful mutants in existence, and if he's worried there's a pretty good chance that all of humanity should be worried as well.
