"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" has slashed its way to an estimated $35 million dollar haul Friday night on 4099 screens, according to Box Office Guru. Exact totals are expected later this weekend.

The opening take matches that of "Iron Man" one year ago today, which pulled in just over $100 million its opening weekend when Thursday midnight screenings are included. Early guesses for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine's" opening weekend haul had some commentators believing it could bring in $100 million citing positive early tracking numbers, with more conservative estimates in the $70-$80 million dollar range.
