Storm is nothing less than one of the most powerful beings in existence, being consistently referred to as an Omega-level mutant in most of her incarnations. Ororo Munroe is the child of a Kenyan princess and an African-American photojournalist, orphaned after her parents are killed (in different ways, depending on the version).

She joins the X-Men soon enough, and becomes one of Professor X's most dependable students — even rising to the level of team leader by ousting Cyclops. Everyone is aware of her ability to maneuver the weather; it's literally in her name. However, Storm is capable of a range of unbelievable feats, even becoming a Vampiric force of nature under the influence of Dracula. The list below outlines some of her lesser known, but equally spectacular powers.

10 Psionic Resistance

With her decades of experience governing even the minutest facets of the weather, Ororo's mind has developed an immensely powerful immunity to telepathic intrusion. Her mental defenses are strong enough to counter the likes of Charles Xavier, Emma Frost, and Jean Grey.

In fact, she manages to withstand the unified psionic of Pylocke and Charles Xavier. While Emma does defeat her a couple of times, this doesn't work after Storm exchanges bodies with her — this makes her able to employ telepathy as much as resist against it.

9 Witchcraft

Storm descended from a long line of magic practitioners, hailing back to the times of Atlantis. She rarely uses sorcery in battle though, which means her abilities technically exist in theory alone. The Marvel Tarot places her under the "High Priestess" category, along with characters like Scarlet Witch.

In an alternate universe, Storm maintains full control over her magic, as seen when she is skilled enough to impart knowledge to Magik. She has also been shown to teleport, using extreme lightning drops to generate a portal when her team is in danger.

8 Stormcaster

Ororo and Thor share very similar powers, being known as the deities of lightning and thunder, respectively. She wields a special hammer known as Stormcaster, whose creation by Loki imbues it with the Asgardian robustness.

In this form, she is a manifestation of elemental divinity, able to deliver feats of almost-cosmic strength. Storm is clearly more powerful than any weapon, though, seeing as she succeeds in destroying it with the help of Mjolnir (which she can also wield).

Storm's abilities are intricately linked with the planet, considering that climate encompasses both the lithosphere and atmosphere.

Her bond with all living beings allows her to sense the experiences of other people, or plants and animals, even (like when she perceives the death of a tree on Xavier's estate a great distance from where she is located at the time). Even more surprisingly, Storm has the power to discern life forces as weak as a fetus — especially one mysteriously growing inside her own body.

6 Extreme Chemistry

Ororo can not only manufacture incredible amounts of electrical energy, but shows a fine degree of influence at the molecular level of various chemical reactions. In one underwater story, she electrolyzes oceanic water into hydrogen and oxygen, which is then used by herself and her teammates for breathing.

During her fight with the Silver Surfer, Storm shows herself capable of attacking the cosmic messenger boy with lightning composed of space protons. Another example includes the time she destroys the memory drive of a camera by ionizing the atmosphere within the device.

5 Temperature Manipulation

Ororo's physiology is constructed to protect her from her own powers, but this durability also lets her modify the air around her by internally altering her body temperature.

On one occasion, she reduces a gun's temperature to the boiling point of Nitrogen (a cool 200 degrees Celsius below zero). Storm attempts to calm a torrential blizzard in Antarctica with this method, and she succeeds after almost an entire day of ceaseless effort; even nearly dying from having dissipated her own life energy.

4 Unearthly Climate Control

Lightning and wind are meaningless terms to a Goddess — Storm has the capacity of regulating the flow of Solar Winds, as shown when she saves the X-Men from a deep space Sentinel attack by shoving it off her ship with a hurricane of radiant sunlight.

Her powers have increased in recent comic releases, and she now draws Solar Winds all the way from the Sun to create electric explosions in the Earth's ionosphere. If that wasn't enough, Ororo compresses a nuclear blast by creating a highly pressurized atmosphere around it (said to be greater than that on Jupiter).

3 Energy Perception

Storm has two ways of observing reality, one in the standard human mode under visible radiation, and one in which the universe exposes itself to her in the form of energy patterns and vibrations.

She uses this ability to practically see into her opponents' nervous systems (lending her enough time to counter attacks of any speed). As already explained, Storm's innate understanding of atomic scale processes is partly responsible for this rather unfair combat advantage.

2 Orordius

In Earth-295, Wolverine is known as Weapon X, and he most certainly doesn't fight the good fight. He "inherits" Apocalypse's dictatorship of the world, and then becomes even stronger when some invading Celestials augment him with their bizarre, but overpowered, technologies.

Weapon X does a lot of horrible things, but one of the worst is his abduction and conversion of Storm into the blind prophet known as Orordius. While Storm loses her previous abilities, she now possesses the skill to look far into the future.

1 The Faith In Her Divinity

During her time in Wakanda, Storm reveals that she has been blessed with Godhead, surpassing those of the terrifying evil god, Adversary. Her spiritual force is directly proportional to the amount of people worshiping her, as shown when she manages to disperse a supernatural tornado from a different dimension.

Interestingly, one of her many names is Hadari Yao, which literally means "Cloud Walker" in the bygone language of the Alkama Fields (but also implies "she who sustains the equilibrium within nature").
