WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Marauders #25, available now from Marvel.

Iceman is one of Marvel's most impressive forces, with his complete control over ice and temperature making him an Omega-Level Mutant. He was easily able to help Magneto and a handful of other Omega-Level Mutants terra-form Mars at a rate even advanced alien races were shocked by and can use his powers to save countless lives (or, if enraged enough, make life a personal hell for his enemies). He even just got the chance to prove how useful he is, saving his entire team with ease from a potentially no-win situation.

Marauders #25 (by Gerry Duggan, Phil Noto, and VC's Cory Petit) sees founding X-Man Iceman save his teammates from an otherwise grisly fate -- and he does so by putting his own spin on a technique used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Marauders just ran into a serious complication during a mission on Arakko. Emma Frost has made good use of the telepathically controlled space ship the Mercury -- which she stole from a space pirate named Eden Rixlo. Rixlo arrived on Arakko demanding an audience with the White Queen and initially, it appeared as if they'd made peace with him, even paying him with a great deal of Mysterium. But rather than surrender his ship back to people who stole it from him in the first place, Eden ejected the assembled mutants (Emma Frost, Kate Pryde, Sebastian Shaw, Iceman, Pyro, and Bishop) into the vacuum of space. The attack was meant to kill the group, and it would likely have done the job of it if it weren't for Iceman.

The Omega-Level mutant is incredibly powerful, capable of surviving the void of space due to not needing any heat or oxygen to survive. Iceman quickly used his powers to create a massive cocoon of ice, around the lingering oxygen from the ship that was ejected with them. In essence, Iceman just performed the same kind of move Groot famously utilized to protect his teammates in the Guardians of the Galaxy film. After bringing down Ronan's ship while still aboard, the titular team wasn't sure how to escape the ensuing crash. Groot quickly used his abilities to wrap around his teammates, forming a wooden cocoon with his body. It allowed him to shield his teammates from the destructive force of their crash landing on Xandar -- albeit at the cost of Groot's life, leaving a twig to regrow himself in a new form.

Iceman actually takes his move a few steps further though. On top of the obvious advantage of his version of the move not killing him, he's also able to manipulate and rebuild the makeshift vessel with just a thought. This allows him to spin around and give the group gravity, as well as create water that Kate is able to use as part of a process by which they gain more oxygen. He's even able to effectively operate as a self-healing ship, repairing it quickly when it's almost shattered in the process of covering the distance back to the Mercury.

Thanks to Iceman, the Marauders are able to survive what should have been an effective assassination by Eden. It's also a reminder that Iceman may actually be one of the most versatile X-Men in terms of sheer power and adaptability, and is more than capable of earning his status as an Omega-Level Mutant multiple times over. With Iceman's help, the Marauders turned a no-win scenario into a genuine victory for Krakoa.
