WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Excalibur #10 by Tini Howard, Marcus To, Erick Arciniega, & VC's Cory Petit, on sale now.

Over the past several months, the X-Men has gone in a new direction that also confirms other long-standing questions, such as who all can be identified as an Omega-level mutant, a designation that's reserved for the most powerful mutants on the planet.

Many different types of power sets can reach Omega-level, but one particular power set that almost automatically elevates mutants into the Omega-level category. Reality-warpers are mutants who are able to change or alter reality as they see fit using their abilities, which in some cases has helped save the entire multiverse, though in most cases these powerful mutants end up threatening the multiverse more than assisting it.

One idea that connects these Omega-level reality-manipulators is that each of these powerful mutants has each created their own universe at one point or another, with the latest reality-shift occurring in Excalibur #10. With yet another reality-warper threatening the entirety of Marvel's reality, we're taking a look back at these reality warpers, the universes that they created and what happened to them.

JAMIE BRADDOCK

The Braddock family are powerful members of the superhero community, as both Brian Braddock and Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock have served as Captain Britain, defenders of Great Britain and the multiversal Omniverse. Unfortunately, the twins' older brother Jamie Braddock is an Omega-level mutant with the ability to manipulate the quantum strings of reality who has threatened Excalibur and the Marvel Universe many times before, which ultimately led to his death.

However, thanks to the current resurrection protocols of Krakoa, Jamie Braddock was returned to life and almost immediately took over the kingdom of Avalon. When Excalibur confronted Jamie, he broke reality and created new fragmented universes for each individual member of Excalibur. Characters like Gambit, Jubilee, Rictor, and Rogue who had never served as the Omniversal protector were now granted the power of Otherworld, resulting in new, unstable realities where they each served as Captain Britain for Jamie's personal enjoyment.

X-MAN

Nate Grey creates the Age of X-Man, trapping the X-Men

Nate Grey, or X-Man, hails from the alternate reality called the Age of Apocalypse, so he doesn't actually appear on the confirmed list of active Omega-level mutants that was revealed last year. However, he has proven many times over that he sits in the same power class as other reality-warping Omega-level mutants. Nate Grey was the genetically created offspring of Scott Summers and Jean Grey, which resulted in an incredibly powerful version of Cable, whose own powerful abilities were dampened by his techno-organic virus.

After escaping into the main Marvel Universe, Nate Grey spent years trying to find his place in the mainstream reality. After years of the X-Men's failures and deaths, Nate stepped in with the power of a Celestial Life Seed to create a new reality that was the hopeful opposite of his own bleak reality in the "Age of X-Man" event. In that world without hate, everyone was a mutant, but the cracks in his apparent utopia caused his world fell apart. The X-Men were returned to their home reality, though Nate decided to stay in his universe alongside the Age of X-Man Magneto to try and create yet another, better reality.

LEGION

David Haller is the son of Professor Charles Xavier who became the omega-level mutant known as Legion. Legion's fractured mind features a number of different personalities that each have a powerful ability, though it is his reality-warping abilities that earned him his Omega-level status. Legion's actions were directly responsible for the creation of the Age of Apocalypse reality, though he took a more personal interest during the Age of X event, an alternate reality that reimagined the X-Men as the final survivors of Fortress X, doomed to fight a never-ending war for survival.

As the mutants of Fortress X struggled against the forces of humanity, Magneto and his X-Men investigated their flawed new world, where they discovered that Legion had manifested a new powerful personality that took the form of Moira MacTaggert. Moira attempted to create a world where Legion could be the hero he always wanted to be, though Legion was able to reabsorb the dangerous persona and return the X-Men to the mainstream reality. This erased the Age of X from existence, though the memories of altered lives still remained for some of the X-Men.

FRANKLIN RICHARDS

Franklin Richards is the mutant son of Reed and Sue Richards of the Fantastic Four. His reality-altering powers have been present since Franklin was a young child, although he had little control over his powerful Omega-level abilities. When the heroes of the Marvel Universe -- including the Fantasic Four -- sacrificed themselves to stop the psionic monster known as Onslaught, Franklin unknowingly created a pocket universe where the characters were temporarily rebooted during the "Heroes Reborn" storyline.

Franklin would continue to create new worlds and realities in a pocket dimension playroom where he practiced with his abilities under the tutelage of his future self, which he showcased even further after the events of Secret Wars decimated the Marvel multiverse. After Reed Richards gained the cosmic abilities of the Beyonder and the Molecule Man, he used Franklin's reality-shaping powers to help imagine and sculpt the new Marvel multiverse, showing just why Franklin Richards is generally considered to be Marvel's most powerful Omega-level mutant.
