WARNING: The following contains spoilers for X-Factor #5 by Leah Williams, David Baldeon, Israel Silva & VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

The Resurrection Protocols for the mutants of Krakoa effectively make the mutants of the X-Men and their allies immortal. And now, X-Factor #5 has confirmed that some mutants find another bonus to dying and returning from the other side.

When their new bodies are created, mutants won't necessarily have the same issues with their bodies as they did in the past. In X-Factor #5, twin siblings Aurora and Northstar shared a moment on Krakoa. and touched for the first time in years with fear of their powers interfering with each other.

Aurora and Northstar

Aurora has been suffering from issues lately with her confidence, and her brother Northstar has been worried. In this issue, she was still dealing with her problems, especially when she saw Daken goofing around with Polaris. Northstar found her on a balcony and stepped out to talk to his sister. When he reached out to touch her, she freaked out and told him that they couldn't touch each other. However, that was no longer true. As Northstar told her, they can touch now because Aurora is in a new body, and it is no longer in the one previously experimented on.

To prove this, Aurora and Northstar took each other's hands so they could show the rest of Krakoa what they could do together. As they held hands, they made beautiful lights rain down on Krakoa, which impressed anyone who was paying attention.

While both Northstar and Aurora have powers on their own, they generate these types of light displays, which can blind or dazzle in equal measure, when they're in direct physical contact.

Aurora and Northstar

However, the siblings have not been able to do this for a very long time. This was all because of the genetic experiments that Walter Langkowski conducted on Aurora. Langkowski was part of Alpha Flight with Northstar and Aurora, and was the giant creature known as Sasquatch. He started a romantic relationship with Aurora, and it was her idea for him to experiment on her to negate the need for the twins to touch each other to release their powers. This happened in Alpha Flight #17 by John Byrne, Terry Austin, and Andy Yanchus. It worked, and it helped Aurora become independent, but it had bad side effects.

This was discovered in Alpha Flight #29 by Bill Mantlo, Mike Mignola, and Gerry Talaoc, when Alpha Flight was in a battle with Hulk. Knowing their powers were always stronger together, Northstar reached out and touched his sister so they could better combat Hulk. However, thanks to the experiments that Walter did on Aurora, instead of increasing their powers, it shorted their powers out completely, making them helpless as Hulk moved in. That is when Aurora told Northstar what happened, and the two could never touch again after that.

However, Aurora's death and resurrection has removed that quirk of their powers, finally making these mutant siblings whole once again.
