An advanced Sentinel from the future, Nimrod has long been one of the X-Men's most formidable opponents. His ruthless ambition to destroy the mutant race is nearly matched by his raw power and capability to fulfill this goal. It's only been through great teamwork and sheer luck that the X-Men have been able to stop him.

As an enemy of the X-Men, and simply because of his mutant-hunting programming, Nimrod has done a lot of horrible things over the years. His actions have resulted in the deaths of numerous heroes, and it's quite possible he will kill many more. Here are the ten worst things that Nimrod has ever done.

10 10. Created Bastion

Perhaps the only Sentinel to be more of a threat than Nimrod is the more human-appearing Bastion. While it appears that Bastion isn't a robot at all, he was actually created through the merging of Nimrod with a Master Mold.

When the remains of a Nimrod unit and a damaged Master Mold were pushed through a mystical gateway known as the Siege Perilous, they were combined to create Bastion. Bastion went on to attack the X-Men on a variety of fronts, working his way into powerful government positions while also using his deadly robotic abilities to contend with them physically.

9 9. Hunted Mutants In The Future

Originally designed in the future, the Nimrod units were used to destroy what was left of the mutant race. An extremely advanced model of Sentinel, the Nimrods were quite successful in their mission.

This alternate future, the one popularized in the Days of Future Past storyline, is quite a bleak place. This is without a doubt due to the direct actions of the many Nimrod's that littered this future.

8 8. Nearly Destroys The Timeline

Nimrod

In the X-Men comics, Nimrod is notable for time traveling to the present, mainstream timeline that the X-Men existed in. He was essentially a Terminator robot that had the express purpose of killing mutants.

Because of his many travels, there was a point at which Nimrod threatened the very existence of Marvel's mainstream timeline. Another time traveler in X-Men comics, Cable, was very aware that Nimrod's carelessness could destroy the timeline. After convincing the robot that his actions were that dangerous, it chose to deactivate itself in order to prevent any such destruction from happening.

7 7. Hunting Rachel Summers

In the Days of Future Past timeline, Rachel Summers and Kate Pryde had been searching for the Master Mold that created all of the Nimrod units. Their plan was to destroy this Master Mold, ending the reign of the Nimrod units.

The Nimrod unit readers are familiar with caught the two mutants in the act. Rachel Summers thought she safely escaped when she managed to transport herself into the past. This was not the case, as Nimrod followed her, making his way back in time to the present.

6 6. Take Over The World

During the Second Coming storyline, it was revealed that the future is ruled over by a massive army of Nimrods. When the X-Men were in battle with Bastion, the Sentinel master commanded a large army of Nimrods that were from some sort of unknown future.

It turns out that this alternate future had a near limitless amount of Nimrods, each of which was capable of causing trouble for the X-Men all on their own. Cable and Cypher of the X-Force are able to stop this endless horde by traveling to the future and destroying their Master Mold.

5 5. Helped Form Orchis

In the future, a coalition of scientists, spies, and various other human forces joined to create an organization called Orchis. Also among their ranks is Omega Sentinel, a former X-Man that had once betrayed the Sentinels and joined the mutants' ranks.

One of the key members of Orchis is a Nimrod unit. It was likely one of the Nimrods that had traveled back in time from the Days of Future Past timeline. With his help, Orchis is able to actually create the first Nimrod models that would eventually be used to destroy the mutant race.

4 4. Pretended To Be A Hero

When Nimrod first traveled back in time to the present day, people didn't know quite what to make of it. Capitalizing on this confusion, Nimrod pretended to be a hero. Claiming to be a man within an advanced combat suit, Nimrod even stopped a few criminals.

The Sentinel's methods were less than ideal, however. When coming up against a few robbers, Nimrod used his weapons to incinerate them both within seconds.

3 3. Nightcrawler's Death

While the events of Second Coming were taking place, Bastion was reverting back to his Nimrod form. During this phase, he had an intense battle with Hope Summers, Rogue, and Nightcrawler.

Towards the end of this battle, the Bastion/Nimrod was able to predict where Nightcrawler was going to teleport to. Holding out his arm where Nightcrawler was teleporting, the Bastion/Nimrod was able to put his arm straight through the mutant hero, killing him.

2 2. Killed Storm and Kidnapped Her Daughter

When Nimrod first followed Rachel Summers back in time, he didn't quite travel to the correct place. In this slightly different alternate future he landed in, Forge was married to Ororo Munroe, and the two mutants even had a child.

Knowing Forge would be able to build Nimrod a time machine, the Sentinel murdered his wife and kidnapped the couple's child. His brutal tactics proved successful and Nimrod was able to get Forge to build him his time machine.

1 1. Killed Kate Pryde

In the Days of Future Past timeline, when the older Kate Pryde and Rachel Summers had found the Master Mold it seemed all had been one. This hope was soon taken away with the arrival of Nimrod.

Although Rachel was able to escape into the past, Kate was not so lucky. This alternate-reality future version of Kitty Pryde was murdered by the Sentinel unit. This was the event that truly shook up Rachel and helped mold her into the hero she would eventually become.
