In both the MCU and the comics, if it wasn't for Loki there'd be no Avengers. The Norse God of Mischief's threat brought together the greatest heroes of the Marvel Universe. In the years since Loki's schemes have enmeshed many of Marvel's heroes. Over the years, he's been a villain, a king, and even an erstwhile hero.
Loki's magic makes him a very dangerous opponent and because of his Asgardian heritage is incredibly strong and durable. In recent years, Loki has lightened up to an extent but that makes him no less of a threat. If Loki went up against the X-Men, which ones would he destroy? Which ones would demolish him?
10 Would Destroy: Psylocke
An extremely skilled telepath and expert in hand to hand combatant, Psylocke has been able to take down all kinds of enemies over the years but Loki would be beyond her. She's powerful, but she can't affect a god with her telepathy. It would keep her from falling for any of tricks but she couldn't successfully attack him.
While her ninjitsu makes her a formidable adversary, Loki can go punch for punch with Thor. Psylocke can't stand up to someone with that kind of strength and with her telepathy ineffective against him, she'd have no way to stop him.
9 Would Demolish Him: Jean Grey
Jean Grey's telepathy has a better chance of affecting Loki than Psylocke's but it still probably wouldn't do much. However, even a little effect would be a big help against someone as powerful as Loki. What will really win the fight for Jean is her titanic telekinesis.
Jean Grey's telekinesis is powerful enough to shatter mountains yet her control is so fine that she can affect molecules. She can manifest shields that protect her from Loki's attacks and pummel him relentlessly with everything around him. It may take a bit, but Jean would take Loki down.
8 Would Destroy: Archangel
Archangel's metal wings make him a very tough opponent. They allow him to fly at great speeds with amazing maneuverability, allowing him to avoid attacks. They're also razor-sharp and useful for cutting foes down to size. He can fire the feathers off as flechettes and protect himself with them but none of that is going to help him against Loki.
Loki isn't stupid. He's immediately going to cast illusions at Archangel, making him think that he's fighting Loki and winning. At that point, Loki will just sneak up on Archangel and take him out, whether it's beating him into submission or sliding a knife between his ribs.
7 Would Demolish Him: Iceman
Iceman and Loki have tangled before and that time Loki got the best of him, messing with his powers and forcing him to wear a special belt to keep them in check. This time would be a totally different fight- Iceman has gotten much more powerful over the years and is in complete control of his powers. That spells doom for Loki.
Iceman, knowing what Loki did the last time they fought, isn't going to mess around with Loki. He's just going to freeze him solid the moment he sees him and shatter him.
6 Would Destroy: Beast
Beast has been an X-Man since the beginning and is extremely skilled but none of that is going to help him against Loki. While he's very fast and strong, Loki is used to dealing with faster and stronger opponents than him and while he'll definitely be able to get some hits in, he won't be able to seal the deal with Loki.
Loki is just too much for Beast. He wouldn't even have to use any of magic- he could just beat Beast into submission. However, he might find it more fun to mess with the mutant a little bit before that.
5 Would Demolish Him: Magik
Magik's teleportation powers and magic make her a serious threat to anyone she goes up against and Loki is no different. While he's definitely more powerful than her, she can also call on the creatures of Limbo to attack Loki, keeping him off balance while she comes at him.
Magik is an extremely skilled fighter. She could use her Soulsword to dispel any illusion Loki threw at her and bring the fight directly to him. Worst comes to worst, she can teleport him to another dimension or into outer space.
4 Would Destroy: Rogue
Rogue's absorption powers would work on Loki but what would she do with his powers? She would get his physical strength and magical ability but having magic power and using magic power are two different things. Loki has faced Rogue before, so he'll know not to let her touch him.
Using his powers, he'd be able to keep ahead of her and hit her with mental attacks that would scramble her perceptions, making it easier for him to hit her without her touching him. Rogue is tough, but she wouldn't be able to take too many undefended hits form Loki.
3 Would Demolish Him: Wolverine
Wolverine and Loki have rarely come to blows over the years. The last time they encountered each other, they were allies but Loki was wary of the Canadian mutant. Wolverine's healing factor and adamantium skeleton mean he can take massive amounts of damage with his super senses allowing him to see through just about illusion and he's been known to be extremely resistant to telepathic manipulation.
Loki's strength and magic are formidable but Wolverine has faced his like before. He would be able to get in close with Loki and carve him up with his adamantium claws.
2 Would Destroy: Cyclops
Cyclops is one of the most formidable X-Men. His optic blasts are also ridiculously powerful and he would definitely be able to hurt Loki with them, perhaps even take him out with them. However, Loki's illusion casting abilities and psionic skills would allow him to mess with Cyclops's perception and that would be what costs the X-Man the fight.
Cyclops might be able to get some hits in and his experience with telepaths means he'd probably be able to see through some of Loki's illusions but not all of them and that would allow Loki to take the win in this fight.
1 Would Demolish Him: Magneto
Let's be real for a second- there are very few, god or man, who can stand against Magneto. Magneto's power makes him one of the most dangerous men on the planet and as powerful as Loki is, Magneto is probably more powerful. His helmet would stop any type of psionic manipulations Loki tried on him and illusions wouldn't work on Magneto- if he couldn't sense the iron in the blood, he'd know it was an illusion.
Magneto could protect himself from Loki's attacks and throw all kinds of metal at him. Loki is rarely outclassed- but Magneto is his superior.
