The Dawn of X line of X-Men comics has certainly provided its fair share of questions, most of which have yet to be answered. One of the bigger questions revolves around the real reason for the precog ban on the island. Moira, Charles and Erik claim the ban exists so they don't scare the inhabitants of the island, but the legitimacy of that argument can easily be called into question. Not only was the setup of that conversation eerily ominous, but wouldn't a precog on the island be the best way to avoid another Genosha?

There could be a few other potential reasons behind Krakoa's precog ban. Here are a few.

MOIRA IS SCARED OF DESTINY

Perhaps the easiest explanation behind the precog ban has to do with Moira's past entanglements with Destiny. In House of X #2, Destiny instructed Pyro to burn Moira alive after she created a cure for the X gene.

Destiny isn't the only precog mutant after all. Ruth Aldine is the other famous precog on the team, but her death in Uncanny X-Men (2019) certainly seems like set up for Krakoa's prohibition. The precog ban could simply boil down to Moira having an irrational fear of precogs killing her again.

MOIRA DOESN'T HAVE MUTANTS' BEST INTERESTS AT HEART

Beyond a mere fear of being killed again, Moira could very well be against mutants. In all her lives, she has gone from hating the X-gene to begrudgingly becoming an ally of those with it. Who's to say she hasn't once again flipped her morality and turned on mutants? There's still a lot that readers don't know about her other lives.

In House of X #2, Destiny warns Moira that she will kill her again if she doesn't use her gift to help mutantkind. Banning all precogs is an easy way to prevent Destiny (and others like her) from doing just that and outing her real, dubious intentions.

In X-Men #6, Destiny seems to imply that Krakoa isn't all it's cracked up to be and isn't a mutant safe haven. She tells Mystique that if they don't bring her back to life, she needs to burn it down. If Moira doesn't really have mutants' best interests at heart, it makes sense that Mystique would carry out the task her wife started, taking down Moira and holding her accountable.

WHO IS MOIRA REALLY WORKING FOR?

The power of the Phalanx from Marvel Comics

During all of her lives, Moira has lived as a scientist, helped build a new mutant "safe haven" with Charles Xavier, became Magneto's sidekick and joined Apocalypse. Each life has been very different and she clearly has no qualms about working with anyone she deems necessary at the moment—no matter how "evil" they are.

Powers of X says the Phalanx are the true threat to watch out for, and right before Moira died, the Librarian told her all about the Phalanx and ascension. That means that when Moira was reborn for her 10th life, she kept all of that knowledge intact. Who's to say she isn't working for the Phalanx as some sort of a double agent?

All signs point to the Phalanx becoming a bigger threat in the future, even within the current scope of X-Men comics. With all the talk of "ascension" in X-Men #7, it could be a nod to the inevitable return of the Phalanx—and the reveal of Moira's greater plans. If she's really working for the Phalanx, precogs would be able to call out her true intentions in seconds.

WHAT HAPPENED IN MOIRA'S LIFE WITH APOCALYPSE?

In the life where Moira became an agent of Apocalypse, Krakoa was also used as a home base. In House of X #5, Apocalypse makes a point to say "I know Krakoa," possibly implying that he might somehow have knowledge of that life.

In House of X #2, as the narration is going through Moira's lives, it notably goes blank at the end of the section about Apocalypse. It's possible that something she learned in that life needs to happen in order for mutantkind to survive—something she doesn't want precogs to know about. Perhaps, it has something to do with the chimeras or the Phalanx.

In the data pages, the timeline of Moira's lives all have a beginning and end, but for her Apocalypse life, it's notated the same as her current life, with no end specified. With all the mystery surrounding it, it's likely that Moira's ninth life will come into play again soon.

Moira is clearly a woman with a lot of secrets left to be revealed. With the release of her Dawn of X solo sometime in the future, it's likely that some of her secrets will begin to unravel—and they'll have huge implications for Krakoa.
