Clones have become a way of life within the Marvel Universe. This trope goes back to the infamous and polarizing Spider-Man clones and features the more readily accepted clones created by Mister Sinister in the world of the X-Men. As it stands, the newly established mutant nation of Krakoa may be poised to enter into a new clone saga that might be the biggest and deadliest yet.

While Mister Sinister, or at least one of his clones, is part of the Quiet Council in Krakoa, his clone factory is hard at work. In the pages of Hellions, the Goblin Queen, Madelyne Pryor is at Mister Sinister's clone farm, and she has a massive undertaking in process. She is creating clones of the original Marauders and plans to send them into Krakoa by the thousands for a second Mutant Massacre.

X-Force knows war is coming as well from the forces of Mikhail Rasputin and the anti-mutant organization XENO. This group already kidnapped Domino and created clones of her to attack Krakoa once before. While X-Force retrieved Domino and destroyed the army of clones, Mikhail captured both Kid Omega and the Cerebro Sword, intending to use them to create even better clones to turn against the X-Men.

Finally, in the pages of X-Factor, the team found Sofia Mantega aka Wind Dancer, and Shatterstar while investigating the Mojoverse. Wind Dancer was killed for the entertainment of Mojo's twisted live-streamers, and Shatterstar inferred that he was being held in the dimension against his will. Shatterstar also confirmed the existence of a cloning factory within the Mojoverse, where hundreds of clones are created, some with mutant DNA, to serve as cannon fodder in gladiatorial games.

Three different cloning operations are in operation right now, and that doesn't even include the fact that the mutant resurrection protocols currently being used in Krakoa is basically cloning itself. However, while the mutants return from the dead with their minds, memories, and powers intact, the other three cloning facilities are used to create armies to serve their makers. If the various X-Men teams don't get this under control, there could not only be a significant clone saga coming to the X-Men universe, but a clone war coming to Krakoa.

Both the Goblin Queen and the mutant haters at XENO are creating clones for the same reason, separate from each other. XENO has already infiltrated and attacked Krakoa once, and they were able to get the Cerebro Sword in the process. There were casualties, but not enough that the resurrection protocol couldn't bring them back. The Goblin Queen is re-creating the Marauders, and she wants to kill as many mutants as she can with her clone army. It appears that she even has her former lover Havok under her sway.

With three separate adversarial and formidable opponents creating their own clones, it seems almost inevitable for the X-Men to get caught up in their own version of The Clone Saga. If any of these enemies are able to launch a clone attack on a massive scale, the X-Men could quite possibly end up knee deep in bodies.
