The X-Men's Quentin Quire is the last X-Man who should be in a relationship, however, despite this, he is one of the few X-kids that gets involved in relationships. His most notable relationships are with Gwenpool and with Oya, both of who are out of his league but they have had noticeable impacts on his story and his relationship with other people.

Due to Idie and Gwenpoole, he’s definitely grown as a character whether the writers acknowledge this or not. Though now the question becomes not if the relationships have truly deeply affected him, but whether Oya or Gwenpool is the better one for him.

10 He Saved Her From The Hell Fire Club

This is where their relationship all began. In Wolverine and the X-Men Idie had defected to go join the Hellfire Academy due to her indirectly hurting Broo. Idie did not think she had any good in her but Quentin went to save her to bring her back from their evil hands and show her that she does have good in her. This is the moment where they get together and Quentin actually shares his first kiss with her. Their relationship begins on such a heartwarming note it’s hard to think he belongs with anyone else.

9 They’re Both Crazy

This one is sort of a given. Both Quentin and Gwenpool have relationships with the reality they live in that can be considered loose. This is because Gwenpool can actually manipulate reality and Quentin’s consciousness is actually going at a million thoughts per second. Both of these facts mean they’re off the walls but this works in their favor because it makes them all the more interesting without even trying since they can see things differently and from a new perspective.

8 They Balance Each Other Out

Though this depends on a person’s definition of “balance”, Quentin and Idie are great for each other in that regard. Quentin is a reckless bad boy who has no regard for anyone around him. Idie on the other hand has the same self-esteem but she feels like she is nothing but trouble for everyone around her. Together they make a couple that sort of balances each other out in terms of personality and abrasiveness.

7 They Have Undeniable Chemistry

In Kelly Thompson’s West Coast Avengers Quentin and Gwenpool immediately hit it off in such an intense way that it is hard to say that they don’t have any chemistry.

They’re both off the walls and they don’t really like each other at first which makes their relationship so much better. They have electric interactions with each other that makes them super fun. They just play off each other in such a nice and dynamic way, which can’t be said for a lot of comic relationships these days.

6 They’re Lovers In The Future

While the second volume of Wolverine and the X-Men leaves a lot to be desired, it does show us that Quentin and Idie do really love each other. They do break up at the end of that book, but not without both of them having mutual love and respect for each other. Idie loves Quentin enough to know that despite the fact that she’s not good for him now she can be better for him in the future. Quentin is still heartbroken about the breakup but there’s a chance they’ll get back together!

5 They’re Both Pink

On an aesthetic level, Quentin and Gwenpool just fit. Gwenpool being a pink recolor of Deadpool and Quentin having both the bright pink hair and the pink aura means they both have a very cute bubbly aesthetic. This combined with the fact that they contrast each other in terms of costume because of Gwenpool’s traditional cape-comics look and Quentin’s weird non-superhero look makes them a very striking couple that no one can miss.

4 Quentin Tries To Be Better Because of Her

Related to the fact that they both balance each other out, Quentin actually does try to be a better person when he’s with Idie. Towards the end of the first Wolverine and the X-Men he actually does become a little less of a terrible person and a little bit more of a good person.

He tries hard to impress Idie, and this even leaks over to Generation X where he gives up the Phoenix to Jubilee in order to be better. He doesn’t do this to impress Idie per se, but the subtext does imply he does.

3 They Are Super Powerful

This sort of plays off of the last point, but Gwenpool was confirmed to be a mutant in Gwenpool Strikes back, and she was a reality-warping mutant to add to that. Reality warping mutants are often considered to be omega mutants, which means that Gwenpool is one of the strongest mutants out there since she can bend reality to her will. Quentin is also an omega-level mutant that may not mean much on its own, but together they are a true power couple to be messed with.

2 Idie Feels Better About Herself With Him.

Idie often beats herself up because of what happened when she was in Nigeria. She often feels like she is a bad person because of something she couldn’t really control. However, when she’s around someone like Quentin who is universally liked by a lot of the student body and is often seen as Logan’s prodigy, she feels a little bit less awful about being evil. She did originally get together with him because he was a bad boy but it really does seem like she enjoys being around him.

1 They Have A Pet Together

West Coast Avengers is the basis for Quentin and Gwenpool so it’s nice to see that not only did they put them together but that Quentin and Gwenpool have a reason to be together. That reason is sort of cheesy, but the fact that the duo adopted Jeff the Land Shark means that they’re going to stay together for a long time whether or not we want to see it. It is like having a child but easier, and it’s the perfect reason for Quentin and Gwenpool to stay romantically involved with each other.
