Marvel Comics has made abundant use of cryptic teasers in the build up to Jonathan Hickman's return to the publisher for House of X and Powers of X. The writer himself has now posted a new cryptic tease, presumably for the series.
The image, which Hickman posted to Twitter, shows a set of eighteen symbols. "I've done it again," he wrote. The post prompted a lot of speculation, both humorous and serious, about what the figures might mean. However, no definitive answer has been given as of writing.
Hickman has shared very few details regarding House of X and Powers of X, but we do know both series deal with the X-Men's history and mutants' history in the Marvel Universe. "One, House of X, is a story about a pivotal month in the history of the X-Men where everything changes for mutants on Earth. And the other, Powers of X, is a story about the history of mutants in the Marvel Universe," Hickman said in an interview. "It works as a series of reveals and revelations where each issue of HOX that follows POX -- and vice versa -- makes you reinterpret the issue you had previously read."
Marvel previously teased the book as having "the most important scene in the history of the X-Men."
House of X #1 and Powers of X #1 go on sale in July from Marvel Comics.
