Another former X-Men actor has confirmed he won't appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

James Marsden spoke to Black Girl Nerds while promoting Sonic 2, and the conversation soon turned to his role as Cyclops from the original X-Men films. While Marsden had a brief cameo as Scott Summers at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, it's been quite a long time since he actively played the character. But with Multiverse of Madness seemingly bringing Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier into the MCU, could Marsden join his co-star in the film?

"Yes, let's bring him back now 22 years later," Marsden joked. When asked point-blank if he was in the upcoming film, the actor replied, "No. I'm not… so I'm not going to see it… I mean, that'd be cool to see those two worlds collide."

While Marvel Studios has made it clear that many if not all of the X-Men will be recast when they join the MCU, Spider-Man: No Way Home and the trailer for Doctor Strange 2 that teases Professor X as part of the Illuminati show that audiences might have it both ways. As such, fans have been curious about which other characters from the 20th Century Fox universe of films will crossover.

Of course, it hasn't been definitively confirmed that Professor X will appear in the film. Stweart spent the days after the trailer premiere denying it was him, but not long after he admitted that it was his voice in the trailer.

"I actually didn’t recognize my own voice, it sounded different," Stewart said of watching the Doctor Strange 2 trailer. "Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don’t know. But I was astonished, and all they saw was the back of my shoulder, and I think my earlobe, nothing else. There would have been so many connections made. But, uh, it pleased me."

Similarly, Ryan Reynolds swears Deadpool isn't in the upcoming movie, but fans think he's lying about a potential cameo. While there's been no real indication that the anti-hero will appear, Deadpool 3 will arrive in the MCU before long. And while Stewart is all but confirmed as bringing his older Professor X to the MCU, James McAvoy said his younger Charles Xavier won't be in Doctor Strange 2.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters May 6.
