Athlete and fitness trainer Jade Cargill recently made her presence felt on social media with a cosplay of the Marvel Comics mutant Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm of the X-Men.

Cargill shared the original two photos of her Storm cosplay on Oct. 31 via two separate posts to Instagram. The first post features a fairly standard photo, while the second image has been edited to include lightning effects. Cargill credits Instagram users lexthecr8tor, visionxviii and lareinasworld with helping her to put together the look. Both posts include the caption "Happy Halloween," with the latter including the national comment that "this edit hits different."

Several days later, Cargill shared an additional photo of the cosplay to Twitter, calling it an "exclusive" for the site. The post picked up a fair amount of traction on Twitter, garnering over 17,000 likes and 3,000 retweets at the time of writing. (CBR has reached out to Cargill for a comment regarding her inspirations for the costume and design, though has yet to receive a response at the time of publication.)

A former high school and college basketball player, Cargill currently works as a mental health and online fitness coach. She is also an aspiring professional wrestler, having even tried out at WWE's Performance Center in 2019, later training at AR Fox's WWA4 Wrestling School. Cargill's Twitter bio describes her as "[y]our soon to be favorite wrestler."

Created by the late, great duo of writer Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, Storm first appeared in 1975's Giant-Size X-Men #1, which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary in the form of a special tribute issue. The character has gone on to become one of Marvel's most famous mutants, and is a staple of the publisher's X-Men comics. Storm has also become synonymous with the nation of Wakanda over the years, at one point being married to its king, T'Challa, aka the Black Panther.

Ororo Munroe has also made the jump to live-action on more than a few occasions, having been played by Halle Berry in the films X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and by Alexandra Shipp in the films X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
