Warning: The following contains spoilers for Inferno #1, on sale now from Marvel.

There's no doubt that the latest X-Men saga, Inferno, is going to leave a lasting impression on the Marvel Universe. One of the most important seeds planted by Inferno #1, by Jonathan Hickman, Valerio Schiti, David Curiel and VC's Joe Sabino, is the crumbling alliance between Professor X, Magneto and Moira X.

In this oversized issue, the three founders of Krakoa have one very important meeting in Moira's No-Place. There, Moira expresses her discontentment with Xavier and Magneto's performance in protecting the mutant race. The mutant leaders have repeatedly failed in their assaults on the Orchis Forge and consequently failed to end the threat of Nimrod. Moreover, Moira is angry that neither Professor X nor Magneto seem to value her perspective, citing this as the reason for their failures. This must be especially frustrating, considering that she's dealt with both Xavier and Magneto in her previous lives, and the results have been largely the same. Moira even says that she knows this world by now, and she knows what the world looks like when mutants fail to survive. With this in mind, it's doubly frustrating that Professor X and Magneto won't listen to her.

Finally, Moira points out Xavier and Magneto's greatest failure. In failing to prevent Nimrod's creation, the duo also incurred the wrath of Mystique, who is more determined than ever to resurrect Destiny. With Destiny's return, Professor X and Magneto would have truly failed to follow Moira's instructions.  Moira was adamant that no precogs, especially Destiny, be resurrected. The Moira/Xavier/Magneto alliance is already unstable, due to Xavier and Magneto's failure to cooperate with Moira. Things are compounded, however, when Moira discovers that Professor X and Magneto have been tracking her for a considerable amount of time, without her knowledge.

Magneto admits to Moira that they had Forge create a techno-organic transmission technology that alerted them whenever Moira went through a Krakoan gate. Apparently, this device was planted in Moira's tea right before the first Quiet Council meeting. Not only have Professor X and Magneto angered Moira by failing to heed her advice, now they've shown that they don't trust her. Professor X does insist that the tracking device was for Moira's protection, since she is the most important person in the world to them. Yet hiding a tracker inside of Moira, without her own knowledge, shows a lack of trust, which is ultimately how Moira saw things.

Things only seem to be getting worse for mutantkind, fragmenting the union of the Moira/Xavier/Magneto partnership. Moira even points out that Xavier and Magneto show "continued arrogance in the face of failure," disillusioning Moira around the idea that these two could change for the sake of their people. The nail in the coffin for this alliance, however, might just have arrived at the end of Inferno #1, when Destiny is finally resurrected and brought before the Quiet Council. Shortly beforehand, Moira specifically tasked Xavier and Magneto with erasing any possibility of Destiny's resurrection, including her psychic backup from Cerebro and DNA samples held by Mister Sinister. Mystique was also to be removed from the Quiet Council.

The fact that, after all of this, Destiny still managed to return, is not going to sit well with Moira. The scene between Moira, Professor X and Magneto was tense enough in this issue. Now, with Destiny alive and Mystique still in a position of power, Moira may have had enough of her two partners. The Moira/Xavier/Magneto alliance has already been tenuous due to their repeated failures in stopping Orchis and Nimrod. With Destiny alive, the trio will have their backs to the wall against more threats than ever, something which will likely destroy their alliance. This is a big deal, considering that Moira, Professor X and Magneto who founded Krakoa. It seems to be only a matter of time until this alliance reaches its breaking point, which could change Krakoa forever.
