Marvel's mutant population has had some troubled times over the years, forced to survive as an endangered species while being hated and feared by those who don't understand them. The X-Men appeared to be facing the end until the arrival of the mutant messiah, Hope Summers.

Hope has been officially confirmed as an omega-level mutant which signifies her incredible potential power level, a classification shared by only a handful of mutants. Hope is still a relatively new character to the X-Men and presumably has yet to show us her true potential, but the mutant messiah has still shown more than a few times that she deserves to be an Omega.

10 HER BIRTH SHORT-CIRCUITED CEREBRO

House of M saw the near decimation of the mutant race thanks to a reality-altering declaration of "No More Mutants" from Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. The X-Men were devastated and facing extinction when Cerebro was nearly destroyed upon the birth of the first new mutant signature since House of M.

"Messiah Complex" took place across all the X-titles and featured a huge showdown between the X-Men, the Marauders (Sinister's team), the Reavers, the Purifiers and Predator X as they all sought out the new mutant baby. As mutant abilities usually don't appear until puberty, the fact that it was so powerfully evident at her birth marked her as an omega-level right away.

9 TOOK OUT BASTION

The "mutant messiah" would grow up in the future alongside the militaristic mutant Nathan Summers/Cable, returning to the present as a teenager named Hope Summers during the "Second Coming" storyline. They were immediately hunted by both the X-Men and the Human Council, a group of enhanced anti-mutant extremists put together by Bastion.

Bastion was a new form of Sentinel that had been enhanced with futuristic Nimrod tech and an alien transmode virus that made him an imposing foe with an army of future Nimrods at his disposal. Hope's mutant powers activated and she absorbed and amplified the combined powers of the X-Men to explosively destroy Bastion.

8 REIGNITED THE X-GENE

While there were many casualties in "Second Coming," the end of the storyline also saw a positive outcome that was kicked off by either Hope's return to the present day or the activation of her mutant abilities during the battle, as five new mutant x-genes were detected by Cerebro.

This meant that not only was Hope's birth so powerful it was detected by numerous sources and psychics around the world, but her return would prove to be just as powerful as it activated the first new mutants since House of M. These mutants became known as the "Five Lights" and they would work with Hope as a new team in Generation Hope.

7 TOOK ON AN ENCHANTED JUGGERNAUT

Hope worked alongside the X-Men as a part of Cyclops' "Extinction Team," which featured some of the most powerful members of the X-Men on the island of Utopia like Storm, Magneto, Colossus, Magik, Namor, and Emma Frost. During the Fear Itself event, the Juggernaut was given an Asgardian hammer and turned into the incredibly powerful Kuurth, Breaker of Stone.

Hope was deployed to the front line where she took on the abilities of almost all of the mutants on Utopia to rip off the helmet of Kuurth for a psychic attack. She succeeded in her mission, though she was drained by the extreme use of her powers. The attack didn't stop the possessed Juggernaut, but Hope proved how powerful she can become with the right mutants around.

6 CURED CABLE OF THE T/O VIRUS

When Hope's father Cable was born, his birth awakened the eternal mutant known as Apocalypse, who infected the baby with a techno-organic virus hoping to wipe out the possible threat. Cable was sent to the future where he learned how to keep the T/O virus at bay using his telekinetic abilities.

Cable's body had become ravaged by the T/O virus during a battle with the Avengers in X-Sanction, which would lead to Avengers vs. X-Men. After Cable's "death," Hope infected herself with the T/O virus and then manifested the Phoenix Raptor, burning the T/O virus out of her and Cable, which was something the alpha-level mutant could never do himself.

5 PUNCHED CYCLOPS TO THE MOON

During the Avengers vs X-Men event, Hope was training in the mystical city of K'un-Lun with characters like Spider-Man, Iron Fist, and Scarlet Witch in the hopes it might prepare her to take on the powers of the Phoenix Force. With this training, Hope discovered she could absorb and amplify mystical abilities as well as mutant powers.

These new abilities would be tested in battle against a Phoenix-powered Cyclops, who had come to K'un-Lun to take her back to the X-Men. Hope would absorb the Iron Fist of Shao Lao the Dragon and the Chaos energy from Scarlet Witch to punch Cyclops with an overpowered Chaos Fist, which sent him through a tear in space/time right to the moon.

4 CONTROLLED THE PHOENIX FORCE

While there have been quite a few characters in the Marvel Universe who have been the host to the Phoenix Force, Hope Summers is one of the few who managed to ultimately control its power instead of being corrupted by it.

After defeating a Dark Phoenix-corrupted Cyclops, Hope proved herself stronger than previous Phoenix hosts when she overcame the lures of the power and became the White Phoenix. Hope (with the help of Scarlet Witch) then used the energy of the Phoenix Force to reignite mutant evolution across the world, undoing Wanda's previous decimation spell.

3 BECAME A GODLIKE BEING

Hope's abilities haven't been fully defined since they first appeared during "Second Coming," though we did see a new side to them when she worked alongside X-Force as the mutant hacker known as MeMe. After an explosion left Hope comatose, she used her abilities to possess the braindead body of MeMe.

During a battle with Fantomex, who had been enhanced by the Volga Strain process, Hope absorbed X-Force's abilities and Fantomex's godlike Volga abilities to become a new powerful being with seemingly unstoppable abilities, though she would again abandon the power and return to her normal form.

2 CREATED A HOPE ARMY

When the War of the Realms hit the Marvel Universe, the X-Men were not at their best and the team was struggling to survive before the events of House of X/Power of X. While New York was fighting an invasion of Frost Giants, Hope was working with a small group of mutants to keep civilians safe and guide them back to the X-Men's safe shelter.

Hope used the abilities of Jamie Madrox/Multiple Man to create her own army of Hupe duplicates that worked as a guerrilla unit against the Frost Giants and forces of Malekith. While the potential of this power replication wasn't explored in the series, an army of Hopes all with the amplified abilities available to her would be an unstoppable force.

1 RESURRECTED MUTANTS

Jonathan Hickman was brought in to relaunch the X-Men for the "Dawn of X" and take mutantkind in a new direction. This led to quite a few changes in the X-Men's world, not the least of which is the promise of resurrection a group of mutants led by Hope Summers offers the mutants of Krakoa.

With her ability to replicate and amplify any mutants and their abilities, Hope is a crucial element in the resurrection process of Krakoa. Her powers allow the other four mutants - Egg/Goldballs, Proteus, Elixir, and Tempus - to work in sync with each other at the peak of their abilities to ensure that no more mutants will be lost.
