X-Men: First Class Writer to Adapt Miss Peregrine’s Home
X-Men: First Class screenwriter Jane Goldman is set to adapt Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children for 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment, Deadline reports. Tim Burton is in early talks to direct.
Published in July, Ransom Riggs’ debut novel mixes prose and photography to tell the story of 16-year-old Jacob, who after a family tragedy sets for a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As he explores the building, Jacob realizes the children were more than merely peculiar; they may have been dangerous and quarantined on the island for good reason. Worse still, they may be alive and lurking nearby.
Goldman, who also adapted Stardust and Kick-Ass with director Matthew Vaughn, most recently wrote the screenplay for The Woman in Black.
