X-Men: First Class, The Avengers, The Unknowns: July 27th Comic Reel

Deadline reports Twilight actor Edi Gathegi is set to become Darwin in the film. "That character, the first bi-racial mutant (in the comic series), has the power of "reactive evolution," which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment. Plunged underwater, he'll grow gills, he'll gain night vision in pitch black and his skin grows fire retardant when burned," writes Deadline's Mike Fleming. I have to admit I do not recognize this character from my days of reading "X-Men", but infinite adaptability seems like a very strong power for a character in a film to have.

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

The rumor that will not die finally comes to the mountain (to mix several metaphors). "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria Parker finally commented on the long-running rumor that she is set to play the Wasp in the film. She tells The Los Angeles Times she has met with Marvel about various projects, but does not know the character. She is flattered by the rumor. "We're just gonna go with it ... maybe that will get me hired," she says.

Release date: May 4th, 2012

Variety reports Brett Ratner has picked up the film rights to the forthcoming comic series created by Mark A. Altman of "Free Enterprise" fame. According to the article, "[The] story centers around Alexis Davenport, who while living a seemingly ordinary life discovers she was actually once the highly skilled and deadly leader of a mysterious team called The Unknowns and must learn the secret of why her memories were erased and by who." Ratner is currently only set to produce the film.

Release date: TBA

Cinema Blend reports Brandon Routh would like to return to the role. Told there is a groundswell of support for his return on the Internet, the actor responded, "turn [it] into a tsunami."

Release date: 2012?

With news still coming out of Comic-Con, here my coverage of the "Green Lantern" press conference immediately following the panel last Saturday at the convention. Talking about the suit, star Ryan Reynolds joked, "Because it's not seen on camera, they've managed to find a material that I think most would agree is the most aggravating substance on earth."

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

Fearnet has the trailer for the direct-to-video sequel:

Release date: October 5th, 2010

Here at CBR, we chatted with the film's director Brandon Vietti. He discussed voice actor John DiMaggio taking on the voice of the joker. "I don't think I'm saying anything new here by pointing out that everybody loves the Mark Hamill Joker. So you're right away, for anybody coming in to play The Joker, sort of working in his shadow. And John came in, and he is so far out from that shadow. He did his own thing, he had tremendous range. He played the threatening Joker, he played the funny Joker and he just created his own unique take on The Joker. I was impressed because I think it was a difficult role to play and he just did it. He didn't really need a lot of direction. He just found it - he's really, really remarkable," he said.

Release date: Out now!

We also have an interview with actress Emma Bell, who plays Amy on the forthcoming series. "If anybody came to set when we're in between takes, it's kind of surreal and probably kind of funny," she says. "You'll see zombies high fiving and shaking around. People will be bleeding. They'll yell cut and we'll be like, 'So, what do you want to do Friday night? Should we go get pizza somewhere?' So we all have a good time on set. You can't not."

Airdate: October
