Six weeks after announcing that American Horror Story star Evan Peters will play Quicksilver in Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer has released the first look at the character’s suburban home in a photo captioned “House call.” The “Maximoff” on the mailbox is, of course, the last name of the speedster Pietro and his sister Wanda (aka the Scarlet Witch), the twin children of Magneto.
The mutant villains turned heroes also play “a huge part” in Marvel’s The Avengers 2, and writer/director Joss Whedon recently said he’s happily oblivious to what Singer has planned. “I don’t know what they’re doing and I’m determinedly not knowing,” he said. “They’ll do their thing. I have to do mine.”
While Fox essentially holds the film rights to the X-Men characters in perpetuity, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige indicated in April 2012 that, presumably because of the characters’ long histories with the Avengers — they joined the team within a year of their introduction as X-Men villains — Marvel could use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch as well.
Opening May 23, 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Daniel Cudmore, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Josh Helman and Adan Canto.
