michael fassbender's magneto looks to be defeated in a newly-released image from 2018's x-men: dark phoenix.
this month's issue of empire magazine contains a three-page feature on the forthcoming x-men film. the magazine has an interview with sophie turner, who is set to reprise her role as jean grey, in addition to this new image that shows michael fassbender's magneto beaten down.
in the new still, fassbender's master of magnetism looks to be captured by some kind of government or corporate entity. considering magneto will be seen leading a group of mutants on the island of genosha during dark phoenix, it's possible he becomes a high-profile target for those trying to control and harness the power of dangerous mutants.
arriving in theaters on nov. 2, 2018, x-men: dark phoenix is directed by simon kinberg, and stars james mcavoy as charles xavier, michael fassbender as magneto, jennifer lawrence as raven darkholme/mystique, sophie turner as jean grey, tye sheridan as scott summers/cyclops, nicholas hoult as hank mccoy/beast, alexandra shipp as ororo monroe/storm, kodi smit-mcphee as kurt wagner/nightcrawler, evan peters as peter maximoff/quicksilver, olivia munn as psylock, and jessica chastain in a still-unrevealed role.
