The Martian star Jessica Chastain is on her way to the X-Mansion. In a post on Instagram, the actress confirmed that she does indeed have a role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
"Hey [James MacAvoy] you ready for me up in Montreal? I'm gonna make you cry so hard," she wrote, adding a devil emoji and the hashtag "xmen." She also tagged director Simon Kinberg in the post.
Chastain was first rumored for an X-Men: Dark Phoenix role back in June. A few weeks later, she was rumored to play Lilandra, empress of the Shi’ar empire, who is described as the film's villain. Though she does confirm that she will appear in the film with the post, she did not reveal who she is playing, so her part remains unconfirmed.
Chastain is a prolific actress whose work spans genres. Her past work includes Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar, Miss Sloane, The Help and Mama. She has also appeared in Crimson Peak, The Huntsman: Winter's War, The Zookeeper's Wife and much more. Last year, it was announced she would produce and star in an adaptation of Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada's Painkiller Jane.
Opening Nov. 2, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Ship as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
