From the ashes, the Phoenix is reborn from the flames in a first look at Sophie Turner from Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Entertainment Weekly has debuted the cover for its upcoming issue, depicting Turner as Jean Grey, enshrouded by flames, from Simon Kinberg's feature directorial debut.
After Jean Grey unleashed her full potential in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, it was confirmed the next film in the series would adapt the seminal Marvel Comics storyline "The Dark Phoenix Saga," in which the character is corrupted and driven insane by a cosmic entity. It's ultimately up to the X-Men and their newfound allies to stop Dark Phoenix from destroying the universe.
Thee EW cover image provides a sense of how "dark" the film's Dark Phoenix will be. The cracking skin and the boiling flames underneath truly convey the sense that this Jean is raw power personified, and that she could truly be the most powerful being in the entire cosmos.
The Entertainment Weekly issue, which will explore the upcoming movie in depth, is on sale Friday.
Arriving in theaters on Nov. 2, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Olivia Munn, and Jessica Chastain.
