Though details have slowly been making their way online, things are still a bit hazy as to what fans should expect when Fox debuts X-Men: Dark Phoenix in theaters in late-2018.

As the film’s title suggests, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will adapt the seminal Marvel Comics storyline “The Dark Phoenix Saga,” some of whose elements were used for a subplot in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. We also know that the storyline will take place in 1991, (perhaps not coincidentally the same year Marvel Comics relaunched its X-Men series with a new series by Jim Lee and Chris Claremont), and that the movie's "villain" will be Lilandra (Jessica Chastain), empress of the alien Shi’ar, who’s on a mission to imprison and execute the titular cosmic entity.

With nary a teaser trailer (or even a poster or logo, at this point) in sight, an enterprising fan has taken it upon themselves to create their version of what they hope the movie will include. Using footage from the fan favorite '90s X-Men cartoon, YouTube user Philysteak has crafted a story featuring Jean Grey's transformation, Lilandra and Professor X's romance... and the villainous machinations of Erik the Red!

The entire trailer is set to Tool's "Sober," which perfectly evokes the feeling of the era the movie will take place in, even if it was released two years after Dark Phoenix's actual 1991 setting.

Opening Nov. 2, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Ship as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
