One of the biggest recent developments for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the reintroduction of their properties that were formerly licensed to Fox. This came following Disney's 2019 acquisition of 21st Century Fox and all its holdings. That means characters like the X-Men can now be featured in stories with the rest of their comic-book comrades.

It also means that the Walt Disney company owns the X-Men outright, leaving limitless crossover potential into the rest of their properties. What if they used that potential to reimagine some of their staple figures as some of Charles Xavier's Gifted Youngsters? Here are 10 X-Men characters reimagined as Disney characters.

10 Quasimodo And Nightcrawler

In X-Men, the animated series, Kurt Wagner grew up a monastic recluse because of his appearance, only finding kindness and solace among the clergy that raised him. Before joining the X-Men, most of his time was spent confined to the cathedral he called home.

Similarly, Quasimodo was shunned for his deformities and relegated to a life of solitude within the Notre Dame de Paris. The artist is able to show off not only that their deformities aren't inherently frightening, but that there is great strength in diversity. There is no denying that despite the obvious difference, this character is jovial and committed to the greater good.

9 Merida/Rogue

via: [IsaiahStephens]

For years, the character known only as Rogue was shrouded in mystery. Even from herself. She knew little of her past, and what bits she was privy to were often closely guarded secrets to all but her most trusted confidants. At her core, though, she found family and would do almost anything to protect them.

Merida is much the same way. Her strength and independence define her character, first and foremost. The two can even commiserate on the concept of curses. Rogue can't touch anyone without draining their life and power. Merida's mother becomes a bear against her will. The artist is able to highlight these similarities in the shyness of the smirk and the strength of the pose, demonstrating how both characters are truly Brave.

8 Prince Adam/Hank McCoy

Disney's Beast and Dr. Hank McCoy couldn't be more different in terms of personality.  The former is standoffish, isolated, and angry at his predicament. Meanwhile, Hank is wise, kind, intellectual, and naturally inclined to lead.  However, it's hard to deny their visual similarities. They even share the same nickname.

The artist here does a fantastic job of combining those visual similarities into an image that looks almost familiar. It's primarily shaped like the "Prince Adam" Beast, but the choice of trenchcoat and glasses highlight the blue fur and X-Speedo to display the best features of both.

7 Donald/Wolverine

Sa

There's no doubt that Logan has a mean streak. He's fierce, dangerous, and territorial. Those qualities belie his true nature, though. At his core, he is a man with a good heart and unbreakable loyalty to those he cares about.

Donald Duck is much the same. Infamous for a wild temper, barely tempered by his nephews and Daisy Duck, he's typically used for the comedic effect of his tantrums. The artist highlights the characters' similar color palettes and proclivity for rage. It's an interesting mashup, to be sure, but there are more similarities between these characters than there are differences.

6 Aladdin And Gambit

Remy LeBeau is a master thief. He also happens to be the adopted son of Jean-Luc, former head of the LeBeau Clan Thieve's Guild in New Orleans. With the power to create and control kinetic energy, he is one of the most powerful members of the X-Men.

Aladdin is likewise a self-proclaimed "street rat" and son to Cassim, the King of Thieves. The artist here demonstrates the rogueish nature and kinetic dynamic shared between these characters.  There's no denying it would have been awesome to see Aladdin throw charged up playing cards Jafar's way.

5 Elsa And Phoenix

One of the most revered storylines to come out of Chris Claremont's run on Uncanny X-Men was the "Dark Phoenix Saga." Tragically, it deals with Jean Grey's first time manifesting the Phoenix Force: a power so great it threatened to destroy the entire universe.

Despite not being psychic, Elsa's cryokinesis threatened all of Arendelle as it began to permanently change the climate in response to her emotional state. The artist here is able to display the equity of power between these two characters. When looking at the image, it rings true for Elsa's iconography while perfectly demonstrating the threat of the Phoenix Force.

4 Aurora/Ms. Marvel

via: [Robby Cook]

Before her rise to fame in 2019's Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers was most prominently known as the source of Rogue's flight and strength powers throughout the '90s. Rogue made physical contact with the future Captain Marvel for too long, resulting in a coma for Carol and Rogue's permanent absorption of her powers.

Very superficially, Aurora is another character who was rendered comatose via megalomania. However, the artist here is able to highlight more conscientious similarities: she is unsuspecting of just how vital she is to the continuation of the world around her. Despite the common blond curls, the artist captures the humility of a person trapped in a world much bigger than they anticipated.

3 Tiana/Storm

via: [DesignNurd - Etsy]

Between Ororo Monroe and Tiana, there seems to be a thin connection. However, when one understands that both share a reality where a world of expectation was thrust upon them, the similarities become more tangible. Tiana was content to cook. Ororo was content to be worshipped and feared.

However, both of these characters learn that with opportunity comes the demand for responsibility. The artist is able to demonstrate how reconciling your identity with your goals allows for a true sense of actualization. Look at that smile of satisfaction. These characters understand that expectation doesn't equal truth, and there is a beauty in that.

2 Rapunzel/Polaris

via: [DesignNurd - Etsy]

Rapunzel and Polaris seem like an odd couple. One is a healer, one is a master of magnetism. However, both are defined by an abusive relationship between parent and child. Rapunzel is the victim of her mother, who hopes to siphon the former's healing power to achieve immortality. Lorna Dane is the subject of Magneto's obsession to create an immortal legacy.

Both characters connect in their achievements beyond their parental figure. The artist demonstrates the whimsical aspect shared between each of them: an optimistic future their predecessor could never validate.

1 Pocahontas/Psylocke

via: [DesignNurd - Etsy]

Pocahontas and Betsy Braddock have a few things in common. For starters, they're both outside of their depth as cultural figures within their own mythology. Betsy is thrust into the world of the Hand and their assassins, while Pocahontas is forced to adjust to the invasion from England.

Beyond that, the artist is able to capture the internal peace within these characters despite their external conflict. There exists a commonality of individualism in the face of warring groups. That element of inner peace is perfectly captured by the artist.
