Marvel Comics has released a new teaser for X of Swords, the first X-Men crossover event under the franchise's current Dawn of X publishing initiative. The promotional art by Phil Noto promises to examine the past and future of Nathan Christopher Summers, aka the time-traveling X-Man Cable.

The "Path to X-Men: X of Swords" teaser for Cable #4 has the caption, "He knew everything." The older and younger versions of Cable are shown, with a close-up on each of their faces. The original, older Cable is to the left with a stream of blood trickling out the side of his mouth. To the right is the new, younger Cable introduced in the Extermination event series, who happened to murder his older counterpart.

The X of Swords teaser also emphasizes the Spaceknights. "Attack of the Spaceknights," reads the email from Marvel. The Spaceknights arrived on Earth in Cable #2 in search of the Light of Galador, one of their ancient weapons that has fallen into the possession of the young Cable. Instead of relying on his trademark oversized guns, Cable now wields a Spaceknight sword, which has gained the Spaceknight's attention.

Cable #4 by Gerry Duggan, Phil Noto and VC's Joe Sabino goes on sale in September from Marvel Comics.
