WARNING: The following contains spoilers for X-Corp #1 by Tini Howard, Alberto Foche, Sunny Gho & VC's Clayton Cowles.

Following the events of House of M, Scarlet Witch used her reality-warping powers to change the world, removing the abilities of roughly 98% of the world's mutant population in the process. Known as M-Day, this "Decimation" saw the X-Men become desperate to salvage what was left of their species.

In a valiant effort to remedy the situation, Beast reached out to almost every major genius in the Marvel Universe for help. Unfortunately he was turned down by nearly everyone he approached. This led to him creating a short-lived group with the potential to change the world, not just for mutants but for all of humanity. Who were the X-Club, Beast's band of scientific experts?

One of the X-Men's most prominent scientific minds (and a former teammate of Scarlet Witch during his stint as one of the Avengers), Beast set about on his quest to restore mutant kind. To this end, he assembled some of the leading experts on mutants from across the globe: Doctor Nemesis, Madison Jefferies, Yurkio Takiguchi, and Kavita Rao.  Working alongside Danger (the sentient program that had once run the Danger Room) and based on Utopia, the X-Club was dedicated to solving the mutant crisis.

For a time, they became the X-Men's premiere science division, using their intellect to assist the X-Men during Second Coming. The group has more or less been abandoned in the modern-day though, with many of the X-Club's members moving into different positions. However, the group could be of great benefit if they were to reform on Krakoa, especially in light of the scientific advancements utilized by Beast's newest group affiliation, X-Force.

X-Force Beast

With organizations like SWORD and X-Corp championing the cause for new technological developments, the time for the existence of a group like X-Club has never been better. The group would have access to the great resources afforded to Krakoa, allowing them to act on their innovative ideas with with the full financial support and protection of X-Corp.

On top of being the perfect group to further expand on mutant potential and create new inventions that could help Krakoa (and in turn the entire world), X-Club could be a natural counter to the darker elements of Beast that have been recently coming to the forefront. The founding X-Man has become more and more willing to cross moral lines, and it often takes other figures like Cecilia Reyes and Jean Grey to restrain his impulses. Having the X-Club around him could be the perfect way to realign Hank McCoy's scientific curiosity with a sense of morality, and bring him (and X-Force) back from the slippery slope they've balanced on the edge of since the formation of Krakoa.
