WARNING: The following contains spoilers for X-Force #15 by Benjamin Percy, Joshua Cassara, Guru-eFX, VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

X-Force has already been pushing the limits of what the organization can do in the name of protecting Krakoa, with some of their decisions causing division in their own ranks. Now, they're even finding ways to ire entire other branches of the mutant nation.

In X-Force #15, the Five and X-Force just had a major spat over the status of Omega Red, setting up the two factions to work against each other in the future.

While investigating Colossus and Omega Red for possible traitorous intentions, Jean Grey discovers that Red has been turned not just into a mesmerized agent of Dracula and his Vampire Nation, but a ticking time bomb, with the Carbonadium Synthesizer in his body having been converted into a bomb. Beast comes up with a possible plan to find the vampires and strike back at them. He has Forge get to work constructing a new Carbonadium Synthesizer, one that adds audio surveillance and a homing beacon to the design. The reason Beast needs a new one is that the one in Omega Red's chest that was a bomb was activated, suggesting that Beast set it off to remove this version of Omega Red from the board.

Beast then sends a direct order through the Resurrection Protocols, recruiting the Five to revive Omega Red exactly how he was before. Because Omega Red is now considered a national security threat and "has no rights or authorship over his life or resurrection," X-Force claims full authority on what becomes of him. He orders them to implant the new Carbonadium Synthesizer within his chest, and to ensure that he has no memory of his resurrection, making him a perfect "sleepwalking agent" to turn against the Vampire Nation. The Five are initially perturbed by this specific request, and raise a formal objection with the Quiet Council. But it's Charles Xavier himself who responds with a blunt reminder that X-Force has been given the authority to override standard protocols and dictate decisions.

The Five raises another objection, asking if there are more humane options, such as clearing past traumas from his memory or removing his need for the Carbonadium Synthesizer at all. They even bring up that giving X-Force this kind of blanket oversight could set a dangerous precedent, where the commanders of X-Force have major control over entire branches of Krakoa. But again, Xavier tells the Five that unless otherwise noted by the Quiet Council, that X-Force has absolute authority on matters of national security, even if that means other branches of Krakoa have to follow their commands as a result.

While it seems that at least time that X-Force's missions will be carried out despite any hesitance on the part of the Five, this sets up another potential crack in the infrastructure of the island nation. X-Force (and especially X-Force Intelligence head, Beast) has been infuriating many of his allies with his recent actions, even resulting in Jean Grey stepping down from her position within X-Force. On top of that, the creation of the Six and the splintering of the Quiet Council following Jean and Apocayplse's resignations add more chaotic elements to the island dynamic.

The Five are already perturbed by the request with Omega Red, an unrepentant former villain who's working with Dracula and his vampires. How will they respond to more morally complex dictates from X-Force? A conflict could be brewing between the two groups, setting up the potential for chaos on Krakoa.
