WARNING: The following contains spoilers for X-Force #23, available now from Marvel.

Krakoa has come up against plenty of foes in almost no time at all -- especially as they try to contend with dangers such as Orchis and Nimrod, who could bring about the end of the mutant race the same way that Moira MacTagger has witnessed in a previous life. But there might be a chance that Krakoa might gain an unintended advantage.

XENO and Mikhail Rasputin have been set up to work together against Krakoa -- at least until X-Force #23 by Benjamin Percy, Martin Coccolo, Guru-eFX, and VC's Joe Caramagna, when a conflict between the two is stoked by the formers insults and the latters' brutal response.

X-Force XENO Mikhail Rasputin 3

Krakoa has earned itself a number of dangerous enemies during its relatively short life, ranging from alien to the supernatural, mutant and human. One of the most consistent has been XENO, who have become one of the primary antagonistic groups to appear throughout X-Force. A cabal of powerful human who see the development of Krakoa and the societal evolution of the mutant population as a threat to their way of life, they've been employing deadly bioengineered agents to sew discord and chaos within the mutant community. But they haven't been flawless with their plans, frequently coming up against the likes of X-Force. Their intervention has caused serious problems for the group -- and forced them to increasingly work with others, such as Colossus' brother Mikhail Rasputin and the Russian population.

In X-Force #23, the two forces converge in Russia, with XENO's primary leader -- the mysterious Man With The Peacock Tattoo -- arriving on the scene to gift Mikhail a number of his bioengineered soldiers. Although the soldiers are quick to impress Mikhail, he's annoyed that his apparent partner didn't bring the promised number of agents with him for the Russians. But the Man With The Peacock Tattoo assumes his power is enough to cow Mikhail -- even as he openly mocks Russia in front of him. This prompts a furious Mikhail to trap the Man inside a dark pocket dimension, comparing it to his own personal Gulag. It seems that Mikhail has been using this tiny pocket dimension as a prison for those he sees as tools to be utilized for the betterment of Russia.

X-Force XENO Mikhail Rasputin 2

Mikhail leaves the Man within the realm to "think about" his recent actions -- even making sure to note that XENO's leader often seems to be on the verge of turning against him and his allies. Krakoa has already been putting itself at increasing risk with internal fractures threatening to tear the nation apart -- especially in light of The Trial of Magneto and the upcoming Inferno. It would be the perfect time for Krakoa's enemies to come together and squash the mutant nation before it can truly achieve its true potential as the future arbiters of the world and the entire solar system.

But instead, it seems like many of the threats that could have brought about the end of Krakoa might be too busy in-fighting to truly turn their attention towards the mutant nation. If XENO were to fully adjust their attention to Mikhail and try to take revenge against the Russian mutants for their clear act of aggression against their interests, then it might give X-Force and their allies might have a chance to prepare and respond to their forms of attack -- especially if Beast can fully figure out how to contend with the XENO agent currently doing damage to his internal organs.
