When Deadpool hit the big screen, it was a surprising success. It was a mix of humor, romance, action and adventure, all rolled into a comic book film. Fans of the comics and even non-fans of the comic book world hit the theaters  and made the film into such a success that they had to step up their game for the inevitable sequel. The first film told Deadpool’s origin story, so now the second one can branch out into more mutant-themed storylines. The premise of the second film is that Deadpool is trying to stop (?) Cable from doing whatever he's doing, with help from his own team of mutants, including Domino, called X-Force.

There is a vast amount of mutants who were, at one time or another, members of the X-Force team.  With comic book movies coming from a vast background of storylines throughout years of publishing, it can be hard, near impossible, to fit every character in. If you are new to comics or just to Deadpool, it is good to learn more about someone like Domino. So here is everything you need to know about Domino before you watch Deadpool 2, and maybe this might help you find any easter eggs in the film.

15 HER REAL NAME

Like many comic characters, Domino has many different alias. She goes by a plethora of names like Beatrice Thurman, Samantha Wu and Tamara Winter, but which one is her true real name? Well, her given birth name is Neena Beatrice Thurman, but the cast listing for Deadpool 2 just calls her by Domino, so we should be on the lookout if the film uses her original name.

And her last name came from her marriage of Dr. Milo Thurman. She was assigned to protect him on a mission and they ended up falling in love and getting married. A common name that Domino went by was Beatrice, which is the latin form of “beatus”, meaning lucky. Her mutant abilities give her luck in unfortunate situations. And Dr. Milo was a fan of Dante’s Inferno which her nickname Beatrice came from.

14 HER FIRST APPEARANCE

Domino first appeared in New Mutants vol. 1 #98 … but it was not the original Neena Thurman. The imposter that first announced Domino’s character in New Mutants was the mutant Copycat (or Vanessa Carlysle in the first Deadpool), who has the mutant power to shapeshift and she used her power to pretend to be Domino to gather intel about X-Force and eventually blow up their headquarters. The imposter Domino joins the X-Force and stays undercover for a while.

The real is Domino is not revealed to readers until much later in X-Force #11. All the details about her origin story and how she was kidnapped and replaced by Copycat would later be revealed in a flashback story in X-Force. Since then, she's been an off and on again member of the mutant strikeforce team.

13 HER MUTANT ABILITIES

Many know that Deadpool is a mutant and from the first film, Colossus tried to recruit Deadpool to the X-Men as well. Now there are more characters getting added to the second film and some of them are also mutants, Domino included. It’s good to know what her mutant abilities are before the film to get a better understanding of her character and how they will develop her in the movies.

Her abilities are called probability manipulation. With these abilities, she is able to manipulate luck to her side in any type of situation. Whether in combat or to day- to-day events, she can have situations turn out in her favor and give her opponents all the bad luck. These powers mostly occur subconsciously when she is in need of them the most.

12 HER NON-MUTANT ABILITIES

Domino is very well-trained in combat even without her mutant abilities. Her mutant abilities of probability manipulation definitely give her an upper hand in combat, but without it, she can still take care of herself. We hope Domino will get to show off all her skills in combat in the upcoming film, because she has a lot to display.

She is an excellent markswoman and can hit any target with different firearms. Without weapons, she is even skilled in hand-to-hand combat and martial arts, acrobatics and has olympic-gold level athletic ability. She has similar skills like Deadpool in combat, so it will be interesting to see if they do end up fighting each other in the movie how the fight turns out and who wins.

11 HER WEAPONS

Like any member of a covert strikeforce, Domino has an arsenal she depends on. Domino is an excellent markswoman and highly skilled in combat, and she likes her fair share of weapons to go along with her skills. Deadpool is a marksman too, but it is unknown who is better… so far. Hopefully the film settles the debate, but we feel with Domino's "luck", she hits the target way more than Wade.

Domino carries the conventional firearms and wears body armor as well. She also carries a staff that fires ammunition that becomes very useful in combat. While the staff has sensors that come in handy, her best weapon might be her contact lenses. These lenses were designed by Forge and give her nightvision and, best of all, they can shoot laser beams.

10 HER PROFESSION

A mercenary solely does missions for the money, without government, laws or ethics in mind. A mercenary is usually for-hire and lives by their own rules. Domino is a mercenary and definitely does what she wants, when she wants. In the beginning of her career as Domino, she was a freelance mercenary. Being a mercenary gave her an in on other criminal activities and groups as well.

Deadpool and the two new characters in Deadpool 2, Domino and Cable are all mercenaries. This means the film will be filled with shootouts and a lot of hyper-violence, which many people initially gravitated towards the character of Deadpool for (then came all that "breaking the fourth wall" nonsense). Chances are Domino has been hired by someone in Deadpool 2 to either take out Cable or hired by Deadpool himself to join his X-Force team.

9 GOVERNMENT EXPERIMENT

Before Neena Thurman was Domino, she was a normal person without abilities and a thirst for explosions, guns and mercenary work. What changed her, similar to Deadpool, was being experimented on. But, like most comic book government experiments, hers were non-consensual and they were performed by the government.

Neena Thurman was chosen for a top secret breeding program from the government to create the perfect weapon. She was the only one to survive out of the chosen group of mutants. But she was still deemed a failure by the government because her abilities were not strong enough. She was able to escape when her mother broke her out of the program and hid her in a church. She was left at the Church of Sacred Heart in Chicago. From there, she left and started her mercenary work.

8 HER LOVE INTERESTS

As mentioned, Neena Thurman was originally married to Dr. Milo Thurman. She got her name from him and enjoyed a short but happy marriage. But Dr. Thurman was not her only love interest. Possibly her most well-known love interest is Cable, with whom she's had a long and very rocky relationship with.

Domino was assigned a mission to take down Cable, but they fell for each other instead. They have stayed together through their mercenary days with X-Force and Six Pack. Another notable love interest Domino has had was with Wolverine, whom she had a fling with. While on a mission to find out about her past, things got heated as well. It is not revealed if Cable and Domino will be lovers in Deadpool 2, so we will have to wait and see.

7 MEMBER OF S.H.I.E.L.D

S.H.I.E.L.D is an agency in the Marvel Universe that fans of the MCU know very well. For those wondering, it stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division and they're a government organization that takes on threats that are beyond human. Domino actually started out early as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it did not last long because he was also a mercenary at heart and has no ethical views when she is on missions.

One of her first solo assignments as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D was to take out the man she would later follow, Cable. She went to his hideout in Providence with intentions to kill him, but after vigorous fighting, she decided to join his side instead and revoke her membership with S.H.I.E.L.D.

6 HER WEAKNESSES

One of the main differences between superheroes and supervillains are their weaknesses. In the film Deadpool, it could be argued that Deadpool’s weakness was his love for his girlfriend Vanessa. Feelings and emotions make you vulnerable in a villain's eyes but with a mercenary like Domino, will she let emotions get in the way of her mission?

Domino has had love interests like Deadpool, but she would not go to the lengths that Deadpool did to be reunited with them if they were separated. This could be a weakness or strength for Domino but she cannot bear children if she wanted as a result from the experiments she had on her in early years. Also of note, is another weird "weakness" which is her fear of chickens, or Alektorophobia. This was revealed in an issue when Domino and Wolverine were tracking Deadpool.

5 X-CORPORATION

X-Force was a common group of mutants that went on secret missions for the greater good of mutants, but there was also the group called X-Corporation, or X-Corp. X-Corp was a nonprofit organization created by Professor Charles Xavier to investigate the rights of mutants worldwide, helping support mutants around the world. There were offices all around the world, including smaller offices in major cities with Hong Kong being the one headed up by Domino.

While Domino was in X-Corp, her main mission was investigating the death of her partner Risque. While investigating, she was able to uncover the truth of “Third Species” movement of John Sublime. Sublime was harvesting mutants and creating U-Men from their bodies. She took down John Sublime and help free another mutant named Xorn.

4 SIX PACK

Six Pack is a group that was created in the pages of X-Force. It was formed by Cable and Domino and was known for a high body count and very brutal missions. It was originally formed to stop the villain Stryfe, Cable’s evil clone, and Apocalypse. Cable has the ability to travel through time with a ship which they use to their advantage on missions.

Six Pack was known to take no prisoners. They have killed innocent people who got in their way. Domino was a part of most of the missions and sometimes even led them when Cable was out. They have gone on missions to Iran and even raided HYDRA’s base. They were so crazy, they were eventually known as the Wild Pack for a period of time.

3 X-FORCE MEMBER

As mentioned earlier, Domino was first introduced in the comics as the impersonator Copycat. Copycat joined New Mutants while the real Domino was a prisoner of Tolliver. Cable eventually took charge of the New Mutants and turned them into X-Force. When it was discovered that Copycat was not Domino, Cable made it a mission to find and free Domino and have the real mutant join the X-Force.

Deadpool was the one to free Domino from Tolliver. When she was free, she joined X-Force right away and she stayed on the team for a while and was the leader in charge when Cable left on occasion. She would have solo and group missions while in the team. Some of the other members of X-Force are Tabitha Smith, Cannonball, Warpath and Shatterstar.

2 A TARGET OF CODE RED

Code Red is a mercenary team that was created Red Hulk, and it is basically all of the Marvel mercenary characters that wear red. This team included Elektra, Deadpool, Betty Ross, Crimson Dynamo and Punisher (even though he wears all black). All these mercenaries had one goal: To take out Domino.

In X-Force issues, Domino was having problems with her mutant luck abilities, so she and Wolverine went on a mission to resolve any issues she had from her past that were limiting her abilities. While on the mission, Domino discovered Red Hulk’s identity. Red Hulk makes Code Red’s mission to destroy Domino before she can tell anyone Red Hulk’s identity. Domino uses the help of X-Force to fight Code Red which starts an epic mutant battle.

1 HER RELATIONSHIP WITH DEADPOOL

Domino and Deadpool have a long history together. Deadpool was the first character to see the real Domino and not the imposter. He accidentally saved her while she was captured in Tolliver’s tower. They have been on a lot of the same teams and fought alongside each other in X-Force and Six Pack, but they have also fought against each other as well, which comes with being a mercenary.

While Deadpool has the ability to heal himself and Domino has luck on her side, they have very similar non-mutant abilities. They are both extremely skilled at shooting and have martial arts masteries. They are known to be equal opponents in battle. The film Deadpool 2 will probably take advantage of their skills and have them fight together and against each other.
