Marvel Comics has provided CBR with an exclusive preview of X Deaths of Wolverine #1, by Benjamin Percy, Federico Vicentini, Dijjo Lima and Frank Martin. In the preview, some unseen force chases Moira MacTaggert, potentially intending to kill her.
X Deaths of Wolverine is interconnected with X Lives of Wolverine, and together, the two books are said to start the Second Krakoan Age, much like how House of X and Powers of X began the first. In X Lives of Wolverine #1, Logan went back in time to thwart a number of attempts on Charles Xavier's life. However, there was still some mystery as to just what was making those attempted murders possible.
The titular mutant does not make an appearance in our preview of X Deaths of Wolverine #1. Instead, the book shows Moira running away, seemingly with help from Raven Darkholme/Mystique, and claiming Xavier and Erik Lensherr/Magneto betrayed her. After going through a portal created by Douglas Ramsey/Cypher, Moira finds herself back in Scotland, where she steals a car. She's attempting to escape some unseen and unnamed pursuer.
Moira's potential death in X Deaths of Wolverine tracks considering the claim the book is launching the Second Krakoan Age. House of X and Powers of X revealed Moira was, in fact, a mutant. Her ability brings her back after death with her memories in tact, thus allowing her to alter the timeline. The founding of Krakoa and the mutant nation's actions are all connected to that revelation that Moira has powers.
