Beloved Syfy series Wynonna Earp has been saved from an early demise thanks to some last minute funding, meaning Season 4 of the show should arrive sometime in 2020.

Though it hasn't proven a huge success, Wynonna Earp has a dedicated fanbase that was devastated when word came out earlier this year that funding issues had arisen for the announced fourth season of the Syfy show. However, The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that the financial issues have been smoothed out and things will move forward. IDW Entertainment, which owns the series thanks to its parent company, IDW Publishing, being responsible for the comic book source material, lacked the funding to put Season 4 into production. Luckily, though, both Syfy and Space, the Canadian home for the show, have injected enough funds to get things moving.

No date has been revealed yet, but Season 4 of Wynonna Earp is scheduled to arrive in 2020. What's more, IDW has joined with Cineflix Studios, which also provided financial support, to help get the show into more international territories.

Showrunner Emily Andras addressed the last-minute save, saying, "We are absolutely thrilled that we get to make more Wynonna Earp, and are grateful to our networks and partners for working hard to ensure we can. This is an enormous testament to our passionate and fierce fans, the Earpers, who remind us every day how to fight like hell for the things you love with wit, ferocity and kindness."

The news also comes with another potential win for fans, as Syfy has reportedly given the green light to a fifth season of the series. Of course, if more funding doesn't come through, the show may face the same problems, but if the new deal can help build the audience up, perhaps Earpers will have even more sci-fi Western action in their future.
