WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Wynonna Earp Season 4, Episode 7, "Love's All Over," which aired Friday on Syfy.

Throughout Wynonna Earp, the title protagonist has repeatedly had problems reconciling her feelings and inner demons. And just as Season 4's midseason finale had Wynonna and Doc Holliday reach an emotional crossroads resulting in their latest breakup, the second half of Season 4 picks up with Wynonna having one of her most questionable rebounds ever. The hard-drinking gunslinger finds solace in the arms of one of Purgatory's most deadly figures: Amon, the demon who runs the small town's notorious nightclub, The Glory Hole.

Wynonna and Doc's latest romantic rupture came abruptly after Wynonna shot Holt Clanton in the back in Doc's presence, moments after Doc had apparently defused a tense confrontation between them and promised Holt that he would extend a similar truce to the rest of the Clanton family. Beyond betraying the pledge Doc just made, Wynonna's brash move to eliminate the Clantons was one of the worst violations of the Wild West's code of honor between gunslingers: Shooting a man in the back. Even as Wynonna attempted to rekindle her relationship with Doc, noting she was just trying to protect her family, Doc quietly but firmly squashed any hopes of them ever getting back together romantically.

And in the Season 4 midseason premiere, the impact of this breakup is still evident one month later. Drinking harder than usual, to the visible concern of her family and friends, Wynonna jeopardized her younger sister Waverly's engagement celebrations with her fiancee Nicole Haught. At a bachelorette party thrown by Wynonna at a local strip club, a cupid named Dimitri gives Waverly enchanted confetti that causes anyone who comes into contact with it to fall in love with the first person they see. This leads Wynonna and Doc to share a dance but, when the enchantment is eventually lifted, Doc reaffirms that the two aren't getting back together.

Prior to being enchanted by Dimitri's confetti, a drunk Wynonna stumbled across the demonic Amon as he fed on a deer in the woods. After a tense confrontation in which Wynonna reminded him she could easily kill him with her magical revolver, the conversation took an unexpected turn as a defiant Amon aggressively flirted with her. While Amon was also bewitched by the confetti and temporarily fell in love with Waverly before the enchantment was lifted, afterwards he retreated back to The Glory Hole where Wynonna tracked him down. She then proceeded to hook up with him in a desperate attempt to forget about her heartbreak over Doc.

To make matters more complicated, Doc recently took a job as a supply escort for The Glory Hole, working directly for Amon to defend incoming supplies from the monsters and bandits that prowl the roads leading into Purgatory. That means it's only a matter of time before Doc learns what his boss and his ex-girlfriend have done, perhaps even catching them in a compromising position. Wynonna has had a rocky love life compared to her sister, and her most recent action means the drama is about to intensify for the gunslinger to demonic proportions.

Produced by SEVEN24 Films and IDW Entertainment, Wynonna Earp stars Melanie Scrofano as the title character, Dominique Provost-Chalkley as Waverly, Katherine Barrell as Nicole Haught and Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday. New episodes of Wynonna Earp Season 4 air Fridays on Syfy.
