10 Most Memorable Roles Of The Wynonna Earp Cast

Wynonna Earp, which is based on the hit IDW Publishing comic book by Beau Smith, has been a solid hit for SyFy since its debut in April 2016. The show follows the adventures of Wynonna, the great-great-granddaughter of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp, as she battles the reincarnated outlaws that Wyatt killed, as well as the other supernatural beings that inhabit the Ghost River Triangle, a cursed territory near the Canadian Rockies that includes her hometown Purgatory.

The cast of the show has, by and large, been received warmly by fans. Given that the show films in Canada, it features a lot of Canadian actors and actresses, and geek-leaning fans will definitely have seen many of these folks show up in other genre shows that film there (such as Supernatural). This article will look at 10 memorable roles you might remember seeing the guys and gals of Wynonna Earp in.

10 MELANIE SCROFANO - DESIGNATED SURVIVOR

Wynonna Earp TV Series

Melanie Scrofano has played Wynonna Earp in the show since its debut in 2016. She has become very near and dear to fans, who love her performance, and they will be overjoyed if IDW Entertainment overcomes its financial difficulties and resumes production on season four of the show. She is a Canadian actress who is well-known in her homeland for starring in shows like Being Erica and The Listener. To American and international audiences, she might also be recognizable from her four-episode stint on Kiefer Sutherland's Presidential drama Designated Survivor. She played political reporter Lisa Jordan, who had a source claiming that Leo Kirkman may not actually be President Kirkman's son.

9 SHAMIER ANDERSON - DESTROYER

Shamier Anderson plays U.S. Deputy Marshal Xavier Dolls on the show. Dolls is a special agent with the Black Badge division of the Marshals Service, but is also a dragon/lizard who needs a special serum to keep his animal instincts in check! Anderson's brother is If Beale Street Could Talk actor Stephan James, and the brothers starred together in 2016's Race, in which James played Olympic athlete Jesse Owens. Anderson also recently popped up as Nicole Kidman's police partner in her gritty neo-noir thriller Destroyer. It was a small but important role in an excellent film, and it perhaps signaled a movement for Anderson into the American indie movie scene.

8 TIM ROZON - SCHITT'S CREEK

Tim Rozon stars as Doc Holliday in the show. Holliday was, of course, Wyatt Earp's famed partner, and has been played in film by actors like Val Kilmer and Dennis Quaid. In the show, Holliday was cursed by the Stone Witch, who cured his tuberculosis but in doing so sentenced him to eternal health and immortality. When Wynonna Earp started, Rozon had already been starring in Eugene and Dan Levy's beloved comedy Schitt's Creek, as the wonderfully named Mutt Schitt. He wound up staying on that show for three seasons, before returning as a guest star in season four, all while starring as a series regular on Wynonna Earp!

7 DOMINIQUE PROVOST-CHALKLEY - AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Dominique Provost-Chalkley plays Waverly Earp, Wynonna's younger half-sister, who was fathered by an angel named Julian. She is an expert on the Earp family history. Her character would prove extremely important for LGBTQ representation when she entered into a romantic relationship with Officer Nicole Haught, a deputy sheriff of Purgatory. Provost-Chalkley is an English actress who is half French-Canadian, and she has appeared in shows like 12 Monkeys and low-budget British feature films like The Seasoning House. However, (very) eagle-eyed fans may recognize her from her appearance as Zrinka, the sister of the boy Quicksilver saves in Avengers: Age Of Ultron by taking the barrage of bullets meant for the boy and Hawkeye.

6 KATHERINE BARRELL - STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

Katherine Barrell plays Nicole Haught in Wynonna Earp, and she has grown from a recurring character to a series regular over the course of the show's three seasons. She is a Canadian actress who has appeared in episodes of shows such as Lost Girl, Saving Hope, and The Listener. In 2018, she featured alongside her Earp co-star Tim Rozon in Lake Placid: Legacy, a SyFy Channel made-for-TV movie and the sixth installment of the preposterously long-lasting Lake Placid franchise. Nerd fans may also recognize her from an appearance in an episode of Star Trek: Discovery in which she played Stella Grimes, the wife of Rainn Wilson's rakish con-artist and swindler Harcourt 'Harry' Mudd.

5 MICHAEL EKLUND - ARROW

Michael Eklund has been a mainstay of genre TV and film for the better part of the last decade. He will almost certainly be one of those 'Hey, it's that guy!' faces that rings the bell of recognition in any fan's brain, but we reckon he might be most memorable for his turn as Barton Mathis/Dollmaker in Arrow.

He appeared in two episodes of that show, but made a big impression with his trademark menacing eccentricities. He has also appeared in Supernatural, Gotham, Fringe, Bates Motel, Smallville, Altered Carbon and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, playing an unusually charismatic and scary weirdo in each and every one of them!

4 NATALIE KRILL - ORPHAN BLACK

Natalie Krill played Willa Earp, the older sister of Wynonna and Waverly, for four episodes of season one of the show. She didn't exactly have the best relationship with her sisters, given that she was secretly the lover of Bobo Del Ray (Michael Eklund), the leader of the Revenants, a group of outlaws killed by Wyatt Earp who were then resurrected as demons. Willa's time on the show ended with her being shot and killed by Wynonna. Krill has appeared in small roles in films such as Molly's Game and Hollywoodland, but she's likely better remembered for her two episode turn as Patty in the third season of Orphan Black.

3 DANI KIND - WORKIN' MOMS

Dani Kind is a pretty big deal in Canadian TV due to her recurring role as Mercedes Gardner in Wynonna Earp and her main role as Anne Carlson in the comedy Workin' Moms. From 2017 onward she has appeared in 14 episodes of Earp and a massive 39 episodes of Moms. Mercedes is Wynonna's rich high-school best friend and, in a memorably skin-crawling story-line, she had her face stolen by demonic widow spiders, leaving her comatose. She was eventually revived but was left with a scarred face, until it was healed when Waverly touched her cheek, not knowing that she possessed demi-angel powers.

2 BRENDAN FEHR - ROSWELL

Easily one of the most famous actors to have appeared in Wynonna Earp, Brendan Fehr has been a mainstay on American TV screens for the better part of the last two decades. He will be most well known for playing sensitive teenage alien Michael Guerin on The WB's Roswell, which ran from 1999 to 2002, but he also had a long-running role in CSI: Miami, where he played Dan Cooper from 2005 to 2008. On Wynonna Earp he played Ewan Allenbach, a firefighter and demon hunter at the Purgatory Fire Department. He appeared in four season two episodes but met his untimely demise when he was burned to death by Xavier Dolls. Ewan, we hardly knew ye.

1 CHANTEL RILEY - ASSASSIN'S CREED: ORIGINS & ODYSSEY

Chantel Riley's Kate aka 'Contessa' is a relatively recent addition to the Wynonna Earp cast. She appeared in eight episodes of season three and was revealed to be Doc Holliday's wife, who had been turned into a vampire following Doc's disappearance. She returned to Purgatory when she found out he was still alive. Riley is a Canadian actress who has begun making a big impression in the last few years. Her first screen credit was in 2016's Race (which also starred Wynonna Earp's Shamier Anderson), and she then went on to voice Layla Hassan in two Assassin's Creed video games: 2017's Origins and 2018's Odyssey.
