The reason behind WWE suddenly terminating the contract of Zelina Vega has been revealed, as the superstar was found to have breached her contract by opening an OnlyFans account.

According to Sports Illustrated, WWE CEO Vince McMahon took Vega (real name Thea Megan Trinidad Budgen) opening an account on OnlyFans as a breach of her contract, with WWE implementing a new policy forbidding its superstars from running accounts on third-party sites like Cameo and Twitch to supplement their income. OnlyFans is a site that allows its users to charge a fee to interact one-on-one with fans. Sources said Vega, who is married to current WWE superstar Aleister Black (real name Tom Budgen), seemingly put WWE in a tough position with her OnlyFans account, ultimately deciding to release her.

Vega was released minutes after tweeting her support for unionization on social media. This comes after a controversy involving WWE cracking down on its employees using third-party platforms like Twitch and Cameo, demanding the wrestlers either shut down their accounts or give the company a portion of the revenue said accounts generate.

WWE banning its wrestlers from platforms like Twitch has generated much discussion regarding the company's employees operating as independent contractors. It has also brought the long-standing debate of whether professional wrestlers should unionize back to the forefront, with even former presidential candidate Andrew Yang joining in on the conversation.
