Drew McIntyre's big win at WrestleMania 36 brought years of hard work full-circle, shaping him up as the first Scottish Superstar to win the WWE Championship. However, he broke a major WWE rule against Brock Lesnar in doing so.

"One of our rules in WWE is that you don't look down the camera and break the fourth wall, like you wouldn't do in a movie," McIntyre told ESPN.

"But I couldn't help myself. In that moment, I just wanted to thank everybody for supporting me, for supporting WWE during this time and choosing WWE to take your mind off these difficult times," he continued. "I wanted to let everyone know how I felt, and I'm so glad we kept that in the show. I wasn't sure if it would be edited, because I really meant it."

Seeing as the two-night event was taped and edited prior to airing, McIntyre watched it from home with his family. However, with the Show of Shows held at the WWE Performance Center in front of no audience, it seems Vince McMahon and his creative team were content to let McIntyre have his moment to reach to the viewers in the confines of their homes and let the moment resonate with a bit more raw emotion.
