Between lay-offs, bankruptcy, and sinking ratings, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon hasn't had the best month. However, during a call with WWE investors, McMahon took no responsibility at all and blamed the decline in ratings on his favorite scapegoat, WWE talent. Even worse, he reportedly told them that the Raw brand is suffering most from a lack of Vince's favorite part-time wrestler, Brock Lesnar, as well.

Not only is it completely irresponsible to blame the current WWE talent for the ratings, but it ignores the real problems plaguing WWE. Vince's deferral of responsibility, laying blame on WWE Superstars and overestimating the importance of Brock Lesnar is proof that "The Boss" is completely delusional.

There's no question that the ratings of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown have declined lately, but Vince McMahon is completely blind as to why. COVID-19 and the empty arenas caused by the virus are reasonable factors for the slip in viewership. However, despite ratings falling well before the coronavirus' spread, Vince is still dumping a majority of the blame upon the wrestlers. Doing so not only misreads the WWE Universe but creates huge implications for the company.

Supposedly, Vince McMahon stated that WWE has featured a lot of new talent due to COVID-19, and said that this talent is not over yet. Even if that were true, it sends a horrible message to the WWE Superstars and could cost them their jobs. Vince is essentially telling the talent that no matter how well they perform in the ring, they're still not getting the job done. This is sure to be another blow to the cratering locker room morale and buries the talent as they perform under these unorthodox circumstances even further. Either way, Vince certainly isn't motivating the talent, he is just making them feel even more unappreciated as they risk their health to perform.

Unfortunately, Vince wasn't done ripping the "new" talent. The Chairman of The Board went on to also blame the ratings slip on its new champion, Drew McIntyre. "The Boss" explained to the investors that WWE does indeed have a champion, but implied that this champion is no Brock Lesnar. This is a huge slap in the face to WWE's first Scottish born World Champion. "The Chosen One" scratched and clawed his way back into WWE after being released in 2014 and earned his WWE Title. Sadly, Vince McMahon is trivializing McIntyre's accomplishments and natural connection to the WWE Universe while foolishly overemphasizing the value of Brock Lesnar.

While "The Beast Incarnate" can bring something to WWE, he's still not the ratings savior Mr. McMahon portrays him to be. For one thing, Brock Lesnar was barely even on Raw, and for another, this ignores the fact that ratings were already tumbling whether Lesnar was there or not. Unfortunately, with Vince putting so much emphasis on "The Beast," there's a strong possibility that Brock's future in WWE will remain as bright as ever.

Despite Lesnar dropping the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre and his contract nearing its end, Vince McMahon is doubling down on Brock's importance. Unfortunately for fans hoping to see WWE move on from The Beast, Vince may well extend Lesnar's contract and push him even harder. This is bad news for the newly crowned WWE Champion, who may have to drop the title back to Lesnar, and for the rest of the WWE roster, many of whom Lesnar has already easily conquered.

Even worse than sacrificing the current roster and exaggerating the draw of Brock Lesnar is Vince McMahon's complete ignorance to the real issues affecting WWE. Bad booking has ravaged WWE for years, from questionable title wins for aging, part-time superstars to a persistent misuse of rising talent. If Vince wants to blame the new stars for their lack of popularity, he needs to accept responsibility for the burials of NXT call-ups and the inexplicable losses rising superstars have been forced to endure in favor of WWE Legends well past their prime.

While it surely would have been shocking to hear Vince McMahon actually take responsibility for the ratings drop, blaming the talent and citing the lack of Lesnar for it is absolutely insane. COVID-19 has undoubtedly affected WWE as it has affected everything else, but Mr. McMahon is passing the buck to his roster. With Vince's lack of responsibility, the real problems in WWE will likely continue to fester.

As for Vince's praise of Lesnar, it's likely he will do everything he can to shove Brock down the throats of the WWE Universe once again. WWE fans should expect to see no future improvements to the WWE product, locker room morale hit rock bottom, and the ratings continue to plummet. Still, regardless of whom Vince continues to place the blame upon, the WWE fans won't be fooled. The obvious culprit for the decline is Vincent Kennedy McMahon. If the investors really are concerned with WWE's ratings decline, then perhaps it's time for Vince himself to hear the words, "You're Fired!"
