Largely defined as a tag team wrestler, Jey Uso has been featured as a major babyface in recent months, embroiled in SmackDown's main event feud with Roman Reigns over the Universal Championship. However, Uso's headlining run against his real-life cousin has been tempered by its place in WWE's ThunderDome and in front of only virtual fans.

In an effort to make up for some of the atmosphere lacking without fans present at WWE shows, the company has opted to pipe in crowd noise, and Uso has let it be known that he isn't a fan of the artificial sound. "I can definitely hear the piped-in noise [when I'm inside ThunderDome]," Uso said on Gorilla Position. "I hate it, though. There is no energy. I have to draw that [energy] from either myself or my opponent."

The six-time tag team champion (alongside brother Jimmy, currently sidelined with a knee injury) believes that nothing can adequately replace the natural energy of an authentic live crowd. "I really, really miss the people," Uso continued. "That's what made wrestling special, just like football. A live audience."

Uso came up on the losing end of his "I Quit" match with Reigns at Hell in a Cell after he quit the match to prevent any further harm from being done to his already injured brother Jimmy, who had been attacked by Reigns during the bout. Now, Uso must recognize the heel Universal Champion as the "Tribal Chief" or risk having he and his brother disowned from the Samoan wrestling dynasty they are part of.
