With the Revival leaving WWE , there's a void to fill in Smackdown's tag division. While it looks like the recently promoted Forgotten Sons could get the first opportunity following their beatdown of The New Day, Lucha House Party also made a statement on Friday night by picking up a rare victory over former champs The Miz and John Morrison. Proving that, after two years of floundering at the bottom of the card, Lucha House Party could finally be in position for a shot at the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

Prior to their victory over The Miz and John Morrison, Lucha House Party members Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik made waves by interrupting The New Day as the team celebrated its eighth tag title reign. Dorado noted Lucha House Party has sat back and watched for too long as other teams have passed them by for opportunities, and he may have a point.

Made up of Dorado, Metalik and Kalisto, the trio of luchadors has never earned a shot at the tag team championship, despite being involved in several No.1 contender's matches. Instead, Lucha House Party has been used as enhancement talent through the majority of their main roster tenure as their athleticism and high-flying abilities made them perfect for multi-team matches. Despite their crowd-pleasing style, the team was never given a real push, and things looked bleak after the trio was easily defeated by Lars Sullivan in a three-on-one handicap match last June.

However, this lack of push may confuse fans who followed the three luchadors during their time in the Cruiserweight Classic and 205 live. Kalisto, who is currently out with a shoulder injury, is the most established member of the group. The Chicago native is a former United States, Cruiserweight and NXT Tag Team champion. Metalik, for his part, finished second in the CWC tournament, electrifying the crowd during his matches with Akira Tozawa, Zack Sabre Jr., and the eventual winner TJP. While the "King of the Ropes" has had trouble connecting to the audience post-tournament, he has the in-ring talent to churn out quality matches at the flip of a switch. Dorado, like Metalik, has not won any WWE titles to date, but the luchador showed what he could do in his CWC matches against Mustafa Ali and Rich Swann.

The stable hasn't seen much success to date, but a feud against an established team like Miz and Morrison could signal that a push is on the horizon. The veteran team is excellent at connecting with the crowd, and a program with two masters of the microphone could be the missing piece of the puzzle for LHP to finally become a top contender.

The WWE may wait until Kalisto is fully healed from the shoulder separation he suffered in early February to pull the trigger on a title feud. However, last week's victory could signal that the teams will have a rematch at the ambitious Money in the Bank pay-per-view. A featured match and victory at the event will put Lucha House Party in the discussion for the next title shot.

It's been a tough go on the main roster for Lucha House Party but last week's victory could be pointing to better things. Kalisto's eventual return would make for an interesting feud with either New Day or the Forgotten Sons as two three-man stables could fight over the titles (provided New Day's Xavier Woods can also return from a torn achilles).

If the trio does end up getting their long-deserved push, it will give the stagnant Smackdown tag division the breath of fresh air it sorely needs.
